    The very difficult way round!

    Hi everyone,

I thought I'd start one of these because I think I am going a very wierd way into medicine.

I failed my A-levels as I was suffering with depression (how fun). That managed to knock my confidence for many years, but I did go out and work my arse off for the last 4 years in accounts.

I am now ready to go and do really well at uni. I think I'm more determined than any school leaver to do well, but it's just a matter of persuading the admissions people that I have what it takes.

I am now applying to access courses, if none of those accept me I will re-do my A-levels.

Hopefully I should know within the next few days if i have a place on an access course, and if i don't then I will find somewhere to do my A-levels again.

Well I'd better go now. :?

    Waiting for the post!!!!

Ok, now I'm getting a wee bit annoyed that I still haven't heard from Sussex Downs. I really want to go there, it's got a nice vibe and the staff also seem quite with it. I know they extended the deadline, but I got my application form in nearly three weeks ago, and the pre-access days are in 2 weeks.

I suppose it's not all bad, because I'm actually going completely crazy applying for loads of other alternatives. I'm also managing to practice all the on-line exams, GAMSAT, MCAT etc etc. I'm doing really well on them so far, so I've got a shred of hope!

Enough of a rant today I think, hopefully my letter will arrive today!

    Fingers crossed

    Still no news!!!!

OMG, what a day!!! My partner at work has just got up and left. She has had enough!! I wish I could do the same, but I need to pay my bills until I go to uni! I think this is a definite omen for me receiving my rejection letter. I know when I get home it will be on the door mat grimacing up at me!

I have now drawn a smiley face on a post-it note to cheer me up! I'm so fed up with working in an office just to live. I can't wait to start studying med. Every day is getting more difficult to bear! I know what I want to be doing and I'm not able to just yet! It just get's a little frustrating on days like this.

I have an evening in A&E tomorrow night doing patient support. I've never done a Friday night, and I'm wondering how fun it's going to be supporting drunken, vomiting people?.

Well had better get on with some work! TTFN

    Getting quite irrate now!!

I have still heard nothing from Sussex Downs! I have tried to phone about 5 times and they never put me through to the right person; and if they do they are never actually there!

Can someone PM me if they can give me any clarification on what is hapening with this? Are they leaving rejection letters till last?

    Only 3 weeks to go!!!!!

    Haven't done a post for a while so I thought I would!

I have now handed my notice in to work, and depending on whether they are going to be nice or not I'm going to be leaving in either 2 or 3 weeks!!!

The thought of hopefully not working in an accounts department ever again is making me all glowy inside!!! I'm so happy!!!

I'm starting my A-levels at the beginning of September and it feels good. I know it will be a punishing work load, but that's waht I thrive on!!

Anyhoo, I have a post in the mature student bit, so if anyone could help that would be great.

    :P

    They have been nice

Work have decided to let me leave a week early so that I don't miss the first week of my college course!!! Yay!!!

I don't think I have felt this positive about my future for years...but then again I haven't actually started the chemistry yet!!!

Even my volunteer work is proving to be amazing. I have learnt so much about how the A&E dept works, and the contraints on the docs and nurses. When you are in the hospital as a patient, you just don't realise what pressures they are under!

I'm off to go and do no work again!

    A very long time later!!!!!!!

I am back in the world of posting. I started college and all is going to plan.

I am taking 1 year A-levels in Chemistry, Biology and Business Studies. I have also been predicted 3 A's. I still haven't got a place or even an offer yet!!! I have been rejected from Manchester and UEA without interview  . I now only have Sheffield and BSMS left to go.

I had part of my A2 Business Studies this morning so I am feeling decidedly sleepy, but I have Biology this afternoon. We are going to continue discussing why beetroot loses its pigment when it is heated! (I have already written 2000 words).

Well I shall say goodbye now. Good luck to all still waiting to hear from uni's and those going to interviews.!!!

    xx

Yet again I am back. I have managed to get A's in all of my AS exams, even after being told by the college that it would be almost impossible to do 3 a-levels in one year!!!

Definitely my weakness, if someone says I won't be able to do something I become stubborn and do it just because I was told I couldn't.

All is going well and I am loving being a complete geek at college. I have my back pack and wear my glasses the whole time!!! Its great!!!

I have just finished my A2 Bio coursework and about to start the chem!! If anyone has any good ideas on Iodine clocks let me know.

Well I had better get on
