Sorry about that little rant folks but I was under the impression that a weblog was a place to talk about ourselves and our (hopefully) meteoric rise to the post of Doctor.

It seems that there are those who feel that nurses shouldn't have ambition, opinions and feelings. Anyway, I stand by the fact that (and this is based on what I have observed so far and I am not going to apologise for that fact) I will be bored if I do what I have observed nurses doing day in day out until I retire. I acknowledged I have not experienced the dizzy heights of an acute setting but curlysin (if she has been a nurse for 6 yrs as she states) will know that we don't experience these areas until our third and final year.

I have never slated off or slagged off nurses and never will.

Anyway, enough said about that.

Today I had my year one outcomes signed off, 5 A's!!! Not bad for an oldie eh?

Now am an official 2nd year student - help!!!!

See you soon

Hiya everyone

Sorry haven't posted for a while but to be perfectly honest I felt a bit stung by my 'fan' and a second beligerent email I received but heyho, each to their own and all that.

I will apologise here to any nurses (ex nurses, wannabe nurses) who feel I have insulted them with my ambitions and that is my final word on this matter (promise!).

Anyway, I am now 2 weeks into year 2 and this is my community semester. Public Health here we come.....

I've just been given a new module that I have to complete on my own all about health informatics - great fun. Have been having a look around the web this morning trying to find out as much as I can about choose and book, the PACS system and can tell already how much fun this is going to be (not).

Don't go out on placement until January and them I'm with the practice nurse (5 weeks off afterwards yippee) and then out with the district nurse. I'm quite looking forward to the practice nurse but feel apprehensive about the DN placement. Don't know why.
Until then it's school all the way with most Friday afternoons off.

Now I sound like a real skivver don't I?

I've been keeping up to date with my maths that I am doing in my 'spare' time but have let the chemistry slip a lot. I can see that this weekend is going to be spent with my head in the books or going goggle eyed sitting at the computer.

Hope everyone else has a better one than me.

Oh yes, and I joined slimming world this week to loose some lb's and £'s so can't even pig out on choccies to make me feel better.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Woohoo lost 3lbs this week - I'm walking on air especially when you consider I have eaten and eaten and eaten this week. Mind you, it does seem to have been lots of veg and fruit! (Do I have any friends left?).

Yesterday we went to Uni of Nottingham for a nursing conference all about research and literature reviews. That is an impressive place to study and makes me feel a bit sad that I am stuck in one of their satellite centres (the joys of being married with kids).

I've got a week off now (studying of course...)

Have a great weekend everyone.

I have been really cracking on with my latest assignment this week which is about evaluating health information websites. Just as well as I think I get my next one set on Monday...just in time for Christmas.

My youngest daughter has come back from her residential trip. A week of outdoor activities during the coldest spell we've had so far. She was absolutely exhausted when she got back and burst into tears when she saw me waiting for her at school-bless!! I wasn't prepared for the state of her clothes when I opened the suitcase though.

She is going to be 11 tomorrow and seems so grown up already. Her sister becomes a teenage next year - I might leave home and come back when the hormones have settled down.

Nothing really has happened at uni or at home except that I have finally joined the gym and am still trying to lose weight. Have lost 5 1/2 lbs so far but this week just stayed the same despite 3 sessions at the gym!

love

Well I'm still trying to evaulate this blooming website. Have spent a few hours tapping away at the computer today and have used 1000 of my 2000 words. Not a lot you may think after so long at the computer but bearing in mind everything I type has to be backed up by evidence I am pleased with how things are going.

What's been happening?????

Well I managed to get back down to london for a couple of days and went sightseeing, shopping at Harrods (The Harrods champagne is on ice for tonight) and Hamleys (Kids are soooo expensive these days) and saw Mary Poppins. It was brilliant and if you can get to see it before it closes then do so. Def felt like a kid again singing along to all those songs.

Christmas was one long round of watching TV, eating, drinking, breaking up arguments between the kids but it was great fun as usual. Can't believe it is new years eve already.

My resolutions...

1. Start each assignment as soon as I get it

2. lose weight (boring I know)

3. Cut down on my wine consumption (hic)

4. Get fit (well I had to put it in didn't I?)

5. Spend more time with my family instead of infront of the computer (clashes with no. 1 don't you think?)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

Love

I've started my next placement with a GP surgery. I'm working alongside the practice nurses and am having a brilliant time. The surgery has a minor injuries clinic as well so it's like working in a mini a & e. Have overcome my nerves about giving injections (I just don't like hurting anyone) and am sick and tired of being told I'm obviously a late starter cos aren't I a bit old to be a student - thanks! Obviously the wrinkle cream isn't working :-(

Handed my evaluating a health promotion website assignment in - just 2 weeks of worrying about should I have put that in/should I have left that out - Oh well! Can't do much about it now.

My youngest daughter got her year 6 mock sats results Science grade 5, Maths 5 and Literacy 5. Don't you hate that word 'literacy' in my day (now I sound old!) it was english!!!

Onwards and upwards with my next assignment - I've got to produce a health promotion poster - happy days!!!!!!!
