A mere 2008 hopeful

Well, I thought it might be a good idea to start one of these things.
I'm in my final year/4th year of an anatomical science with french degree at manchester. I was going to apply to begin medical school this year so that I'd start in sept 2007. But at the last minute I pulled out.

Figured that I might as well work for a year and get as much experience as I can. My degree percentage at the mo is 55-56% adn I've only now decided that I want a first. I know, a complete joke. Thing is I've never been motivated till now, as I know exactly what it is that I want to do.

So basically, all my energy will be going into this final year of my degree then I'll have the whole year to concentrate on my med application in peace. Well kind of.

Thats it. Now going to my french grammer class- the degree is 'with french'.

je suis fatiguee

I'm so tired. I mean, I have 5hours a week at the mo of uni scheduled hours. When my science units begin, I'll have 11 hours. Ohh, I love a challenge. lol.

As I'm so free, I'm working as much as I can to earn as much cash as poss. Thats why I'm tired me thinks.

I work for the uni now as a student ambassador. I recommend anyone that has a similar scheme at their university to join in. Its a great way to earn money, meet people and unlike any other part time job, you're not commited to a min amount of hours. You can work how little or how much and often as you want to.

Forgot to say in my first post but good luck to all of you applying this year. Start preparing for entrance exams and interviews now; its never too early.

summary of weekend

Well this weekend, my friend that is currently studying medicine at keele came to stay at mine. She'd done biomed here and is now in her first year of med at keele. She's really enjoying it, and says that its everything she has ever wanted. Except for the workload. I haven't done anywork since thursday. So I'm going to do some work for one hour (lol, as if that makes up for it) and then I'm going to watch Dusk till Dawn.

Tomorrow I need to ring the hospital with whom I've been trying to organise my voluntary stuff with for the past 7 months! I knew it would take long, I'd been informed, but this is slightly ridiculous. I'm constantly chasing them. oh well. Must go now, work to do!

Wow, reading week went by so quickly. I don't actually remember what happened from Monday to Wednesday. But Wednesday night I went to Keele to visit my good friend. We went out to a medic social thing on Thurs night which was really good. Got quite tipsy. Woke up on Fri morning with my throat feeling as dry as ever!
Then before coming back, I went to visit a friend in Stoke and when I got back home, friends wantied me to go out. I physically couldn't so I just had a cup of tea and some angel cake. A crazy Friday night! lol. Ooh, the boyf had flowers for me as a suprise. Not a normal bunch. But one of those ones that have loads of different things like bamboo sticks and other plants. Really nice but huge, still haven't found a place for it.

This weekend is really one for uni work. Got so much to do for Monday- 3 essays and 2 novels to read
Better get to it.

Cool update

I'm now in the second '6week block' of the semester. So my life science units have started. Am doing Human Reproductive Biology and Avanced Topics in Human Anatomy.

I find all of really enjoyable so far, except the embryology section of Anatomy. It's frustrating that the explanation for most things tend to go along the line of...'this bud morphed into this lobe.' Ahhh! I much prefer the developmental stuff, cos its more genetic and actually has proper explanations. I can't actually blame anyone, the embyology stuff has not yet been fully discovered so a lot is hazy. Well, I just don't like it!

Went to Loughborough with a friend, as she insists that it's the best town ever! They had a little fair going on and it was quite cool. Nice little village type thing, that has enough in it so you wont go crazy. lol.

I have so much work to do its unbelievable, when I start properly working on my final project I'm surely going to drown? Hopefully not! Better get back to it, I really am having fun and I'm so ashamed to be sounding like such a dork. lol.

This week, I had my viva for my 3rd year placement project. It was horrible. It was supposed to last for 30 minutes. It lasted for 1hour 10minutes. They grilled me as if I were a PhD student! Worst thing ever. I had been in uni from 9-3, without a break and hadn't eaten anything since brekkie, and then had to be subjected to that. I literally ate and then passed out as soon as I got home. lol.

The rest of the week however went pretty well. Well, apart from financial problems here and there.

Gonna go out with a mate tonight to party my way through to tomorrow, then work and tidy up the flat all day Saturday. From 9-4 Sunday I'm in training. Also, the boyf has left me for the weekend only joking. Can't wait till he gets back, am missing him already!

Cool At peace with life.

So it's 5th December, and I still haven't even bought one xmas present!
Very bad I know. My plan is to wake up early on thurs (i don't have any lecs) and go into town and get the majority of them.

I can't believe that this first semester has gone by so quickly. Where does the time go?

Finally got CRB cleared- I applied in august. So now I can start organising some hospital work! yay!

Other than that, nothing amazing happening, bogged down with work. At least there aren't any exams in January. That way I can really go over this semesters work and start getting down and dirty with my final year project. lol.

Hmm, back to some reading now.

Anyway, I just got back from Lyon. Went for the weekend. It was really good to see everyone, and just have a relxing weekend after such a hectic first semester. So now I'm on holiday till 29th of Jan

I'm going to read over all of my lecture notes from first semester and get my intro and some more of my final year project done. I have opportunitys for paid work at uni for a couple of weeks, so thats great too.

Back in Manchester after a fantabulous christmas and lovely new year. Haven't made any resolutions yet, I can't think of anything worthwhile and realistic. There's no point in making ones that are obviously going to be broken, cos that just makes you feel even worse.

I'm still on holiday, don't go back till 29th, and don't have any exams either
So I've taken the opportunity to get paid work and I'm gonna organise myself so I'm relaxed, refreshed and ready to take on this final semester.

Hope you all had great xmas' and that 2007 brings lots of success and happiness.

xxxx
