Haven't written for a couple of weeks and quite a bit has happened.

Got my MSAT results, got 95 percentile!! Was so surprised, I was hoping / expecting for 70 - 80. Got 76 in the first section, 83 in the second, and 53 & 56 for the essay sections. Overall score was 71. Got pretty low scores for the essays but the first two sections pulled it up a lot, seems to be the other way round to most people who did better on the essays. Knew I'd messed them up, but wow, wasn't expecting to do so well .

Had my Birmingham as well, haven't heard back from that yet. Not really sure how it went, seemed to be over so quickly. Am quite fed up that I messed up a bit, they were asking me about the career structure and I knew it but the way they phrased the questions confused me about what they were actually asking & I messed it up. The rest of it went pretty well and I think I got it back on track. They asked about something medical in the news and I talked about the critical care of very premature neonates, they seemed to like that. I just dont feel I really did myself justice, I didn't really get to talk up all the experience I've had or anything like that. Oh well, live & learn, hopefully will do better next time.

Got an interview in Liverpool coming up on the 6th Feb. Looking forward to it I think, I really need to get a place. I feel like my life is on hold until I start uni.

Got an offer from Birmingham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am so excited and relieved. I found out on Monday and wasn't expecting to hear until at least Wednesday, so when I had the email saying track was updated I was convinced it was a rejection, but it wasn't! It is conditional, which is a bit weird, instead of unconditional, but apparantly it is just conditional upon health checks & CRB.

Have just withdrawn my application from Liverpool and Warwick, was due to have an interview at Liverpool on Tuesday but I really liked Birmingham so I don't think there's any point going. I'm leaving my application to KCL open though, because I might be tempted to go there if I got an interview.

Anyway, working at 7 in the morning so had better go.

Have just firmly accepted my offer for Birmingham!

I was invited to interview at Kings on 2nd March, and I've thought really hard about it, but I've decided to go with Birmingham. I think it was the uni tour that really did it for me, I was so impressed with all the resources they give to the GEPs, and the student's seemed so positive.

I'm sure Kings would have been amazing as well, and part of me thinks I'm daft not to even go and look round, but I'm really happy with Birmingham and don't want to cloud my mind. I feel better for having made the decision, and I can't wait until September !

Hi

I am also contemplating grad entry courses so I have some questions please as you seem to be well informed.

Why don't you want to study and write the GAMSAT? Aren't you excluding yourself from a large number of the few unis that offer grad courses?

Why would you pay €25k to study in Ireland? Are you a foreign student?

Why do you prefer Oxford over cambridge? I read the piece about Cambridfge having a fair selection process. Is this differrent from Oxford or others?

Thanks

Goosefoots, you need to ask those questions in the mature students forum (http://www.newmediamedicine.com/foru...splay.php?f=16). No one is allowed to post in a weblog like this apart from the person that writes the weblog, moderators will delete/move the posts. The other way to ask a specific person something is to send a pm to an individual user and they'll send you a response back. Cheers, Amy

Well it's ages since I've written anything here, so thought I would do a quick catch up.

I've just sorted out a house in Harbourne with 3 other girls who will be starting the GEP course this autumn. I've met two of them and they're lovely, hopefully we can meet up with some others who will be starting the course as well sometime this summer. I went up to Birmingham yesterday and saw the house and paid the deposit, it's lovely with 4 double rooms and a 20min walk from the uni.

I'm working in a new job at the moment as well, until July. Working at the special needs school in my town as a classroom assistant, it's a great job. Really looking forward to September now, still seems a long time away yet though. My brother's getting married in September the week before I go, so September's going to be very busy!
