oooh!!! and I sent off my residences form for the Diif. It is as follows: Senghennydd Hall 1st, Sengthingy court 2nd (evening meal). 3rd Taly south, 4th Gordon hall, and the rest kinda follows from that. I put talybronx as 8th/9th ish. Fingers crossed 3 A's, altho no matter how hard I try, I probs wont get it and end up the 'ster. But hey, alway think positively.
Well..... got my removable brace today. Try holding a large piece of bubblegum stuck on the roof of your mouth for an entire day and that may give you some indication of what it feels like.
The idea is that, because when my back teeth bite together, my front teeth overlap. If things were left this way and I were given train-track braces now, the overlap would push the bottom bases and knock them. So now, to stop that overlap there is a large plastic platform, and I can only bite with my front two teeth. Apparently, the rest of my teeth will simply grow to fill the space and give me a bite that doesn't overlap at the front. I have to wear it 24/7 and only remove to clean after eating. If I take it out to eat, my teeth will simply grind back down like those of a cow (Some A2 OCR Bio Mammalian Physiology and Behaviour revision there for you!!!).
So now, I find myself struggling to eat and talking with a pronounced lisp. Bad thing: I have work on Saturday, and the good fans of rugby league will be far from sympathetic, especially the drunk northern ones. Good thing: at least now it's harder to eat, I'll probs find I fit into my prom dress quite nicely. It did feel a lil tight after returning from our gastronomic tour of Paris. Oof. And also, I don't need my teeth out until later on, so we're playing it by ear 'til my teeth grow. And the brace don't show. All I gotta do is learn to talk proper, innit.
Whoooooooooooo!!!!!! Okay, I'm pre-empting myself a bit here, but this post is so typically me (well so is everything else in this blog, but this is extremely me):
Read the Guardian Sports section yesterday; I always skim through to the Rugby bits. There was an article about Mathew Tait, England Sevens Commonwealth Games star, and guess what??? He wants to be a doctor!!!! H's applied to do biomed at Newcastle and intends to do GEP med when he retires from rugby!!!
I know, I'm sad, but I thought it was quite cute, and relevant to this site. And you can't say I didn't warn you!!!
In update of the last post: I am slowly learning to talk and eat (very little can keep me away from food that long), although the sss's are still slightly tough to get my tongue round. Also:
SUPPORT YOUR ENGLAND UNDER 21's!!!!!!!! (the world cup ain't the only sports event this june, y'know).
Here's a memo for everybody out there: every single thing that you do on your computer back up on a USB/disc. Last week our computer died a horrible and tragic death and the only way to save it was to reinstall factory settings and lose everything on it. Luckily the only things of importance for me were all my pictures, and they're safe as tehy were on my msn space, therefore backed up online. However my dad lost all his school work (he's a teacher) and we had to spend ages reinstalling which was a bugger.
Anyhoo. It's funny how much i rely on the internet. You really do miss it when it's gone. Brace is fine (no longer have a lisp!!!) , England Under 21's came 5th in their world champs (yay!!! Big up my boys!!!) and best of all: THE EXAMS ARE OVER!!!!!!!!!
Edexcel chem A lvl: unit 5: omg evillest paper ever. unit 6B: omg nicest paper ever!!!!! Oooh, and for OCR biology Unifying concepts: how random was that Lugworm question?!!! Jokes!!
Anyhoo, now I have a free(ish) summer. Any ideas what i could do??? Answers on a postcard please (alternatively just pm me).
Now I must go make pasta sauce. Ciao bella!!!!!!!!!
crikey i aint blogged in ages, not that you lot care. Been soooooo bored lately. Now it's holidays I never know what to do. Cant get a job because I'm going away for quite a bit of it. and when i am at home im busy anyhoo.
I have a stonking cold which is just fabuloso. and a BBQ to organise. and i feel like shite.
Spose it cud be alot worse. Am killing time chatting to my italian penfriend lorenzo. and reading some crazy vampire book. lol. so bored i cant even think what to write.
Wow, 800 views exactly. I am truly touched by your humility. Ok, I realise now that yesterday's entry was crap and just a bid to get my blog back to the top of the heap. So... what have I been up to??? Not alot. Bought a couple of books. Been gripped to this one called "The Historian" for the past few days now. It's kind of a Dracula spin-off; I like a good vampire novel, lol. Went to Richmond on Friday on an impulse: got lunch from waitrose and hopped on the bus that was sitting there. Sat on the Green. Was funny, when I arrived there were a dozen or so people there, but by the time I left at 2 there were hundreds!!! Realised that I had no idea where to go to get the bus home, although common sense dictates that were there's a station, there's a bus stop.
Am going to be acting as a simulation patient at Kingston Uni tomoz and on thursday, for the nursing exams, which means bonding time with my cousin. Joy. My cousins are lovely, but I prefer the male ones. The female ones, despite their best intentions, always leave me feeling somewhat patronised.
There. Feel a bit more enlightened??? Feel free to PM me about random crap, I ain't had one in ages. (Nobody loves me!!! sob, sob.)
Hmmmm..... been doing this nursing thingy this week. Being manhandled into a sling by a load of rather buxom young ladies. There are grown men who would probably pay to do this. Good experience, good to be payed about £8 an hour and get a free lunch. But it is very, very boring. The first day I did it i was just a mock, so it was quite funny watching them all make really glaring mistakes, trynna squeeze me into on that was too small etc. I struggled to keep a straight face whilst having my legs pulled about. But it was just annoying that on the actual most of them got it right. Still, at least i didn't have to do the recovery position one, where you ended up getting shouted at, groped and slapped. lol.
well. T'was my birthday yesterday. 18. Whoooooo. I feel so grown up. Although I should warn you, that date is actually cursed. I have never had a pefect birthday, not for at least 4 years. To be fair, my mother managed to pull off some pretty good ones in my early childhood. I guess it's just because my birthday is the only time of year that I actually dare to optimistic. The fact that I'm a total perfectionist don't help either, so if anything doesn't happen how I intended then I get very peed. Hence why I stick to pessimism for the other 364 days of the year (you're never disappointed).
Had a pretty good party on saturday. Good haul of pressies. Lotsa people I aint seen in ages. Whether cudda been better. Then yesterday, seeing as only 3 of my friends where available, we abandoned the idea of going to the beach and went for a picnic instead. That was until one of them got dragged away by his boss cos he was sposed to be in work, and the other got a mystery stomach bug. So I was alone, with no rugby players to ogle and £10 worht of picnic to be eaten. Add to that the carrot cake my mum made for my bday was a total disaster (anyone got a good carrotcake recipe??? PM me!) Ach, it wasnt that bad. We had a nice italian meal.
as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted by ominously flickering lights....
ack. today has been quite hellish. spoilt brat of a kid brother has had to successive sleepovers, is completely trashing the place, and yet parents pander to his every whim. "can i have this... can i have that.... can eat this... can i buy this off ebay?" arrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Like I said, july 26 is cursed. My worst birthday was my 15th. We spent the entire day driving down to devon, it rained, we had my birthday picnic sitting in the car in a layby somewhere. Cake sitting in the corner of a national trust restaurant. I suppose it could've been worse: we could've been camping. Hmmm. I dunno. Since then, every social occasion I have tried to organise has been cursed.
Lol. Doom and Gloom. Anyone else share my birthday?????? My current list goes a bit like this: Mick Jagger (rolling stone), Sandra Bullock and Helen Mirren (actresses), Stanley Kubrick (director of filmes such as A Clockwork Orange), Tanni Grey-Thompson (Britain's greatest Paralympic athlete). Ooh, and my mate Pete.
Rejection here too :( fairly gutted. Thought my interview was ok. My interview was back in November and cos of the long wait I got my hopes up that I actually had a chance... Just southampton to hear...
They must just give out the rejections first and then the offers.
Good luck for Warwick! I only have Bristol left and doubt I'll get in so probably will be applying again
Yes I thought the odds were approx 2:1 which is good but my interview didn't go very well. I was hoping that an excellent reference from my boss would have saved it but I guess it didn't (and that's...
