Intense!!!
The trainer course is jam packed with theory. That's not to say that I'm not enjoying the course, but I get the distinct feeling that I'm at a disadvantage when I'm the only person having to leave home at 6 in the morning to make it in time for the 9 o'clock start. I'm wrecked and I'm sure that you all know how difficult it is to try and learn anything when even a herd of stampeding bufallo could pass by and not rouse you from your near slumber...
I shall have to make sure that I'm up to speed with all the theory by next week - looks like a week of reading educational theory for me
That was my whole weekend! Can you believe that I've got nothing more to say about 48 hours of my life?
In other news, it's the West Life concert this week and I've ordered a new Maglite specially

The hi light of my day today was purchasing a new pair of black combat trousers from Arco.
They're very nice but why do manufacturers insist on making all the trousers, whatever the waist size, have an inside leg of 33 inches?
Why 33 inches? All the other sizes are even numbers. So why make the leg be 33 inches?
I am only moaning because, of course, I have to attempt to take the legs up.
How on earth do I do that?
It used to be the case that I'd place said garment on a pile and they'd be returned a day or so later magically shorter. Somehow that service has ceased to operate...
Ben has suggested I use a fret saw to remove excess fabric and finish the edges by burning them ... like rope.
Hmm. :|
I might just give the pile another few days...

[11:45 am]
I think I have cabin fever.
Seriously, I’m sitting here at my desk watching “House Invaders” (Yes, I know that alone qualifies me for compulsory admittance to hospital under Section 28 of the Mental Health Act) and I find myself making comments on the validity of the design ideas. That might not seem like grounds for insanity, but if you consider that there is nobody else in the house and I really am enjoying making sarcastic comments…
Arggggghhhh!
I am bored. When do I go back to uni?
The very fact that you’re reading this in my blog means that I must have been able to write it and save it which means, of course, that the server is fixed!!!
Yay.

I'm sorry I haven't written anything, sorry written anything worth reading, in a while but I've been busy and the forums were playing up and my dog ate my homework...
You get the idea. It all boils down to me being, what is politely termed, a lazy git.
I'm sorry. ops:
Right now I'm going to the pub to win the quiz - oh yes, it will be mine.
I'll try and update you on my hectic life once I've won.

Life has the habit of surprising me.
It really isn't funny any more!
I am so horribly busy that I can't even get a handle on the amount of little tasks that are screaming for my immediate attention.
Why oh why do these things all come together at once?
It never rains, it poors.

I took time out.
I spent much of today doing very little...
And it felt great!
I also managed to categorise my never ending list of tasks and I now have some idea of what I'm doing.
In other news, I watched the Casualty special that I recorded over the weekend and enjoyd pulling it to bits. Great fun.
Here's a small excerpt of my happy ramblings;
Quote:
Sigh
What rubbish. I wish the Casualty producers would do a little bit of research.
The first Ambulance Crew on scene always takes on the role of Forward Incident Officer at the site of a suspected MAJAX and do not take a role in treating the injured until reiforcements, and a senior Ambulance Service Officer, arrive.
And another thing - no emergency vehicles on the site should have their blue lights flashing except the Incident Command Centre. Everyone knows that!

I am so sad.
You don't want to know what I had to say about the resuscitation methods and Comfort handing the BVM to a school child!
Smile!

Wow, I didn't realise that it was Tuesday that I last wrote something here.
Give me a moment to try and remember why that must be.
*scratches head and mutters to self*
Okay, Wednesday is a dead loss. I don't have the faintest idea of what I spent the day doing. It can't have been that exciting, so I imagine it involved day time TV and very little else. Any of you have an idea? ops:
I know what I spent Thursday doing. It involved trains, ambulances and millions of Freshers... okay, so maybe hundreds of Freshers, but that doesn't sound so impressive does it?
Somehow I let myself be roped into helping at the Teesside University freshers fair. I don't need to tell you who I was helping out.
The ambulance attracted loads of students, but they only wanted to use me to get to the siren button. Haha, if only they knew how to make Horn transfer work like I do... mwah ha ha.
I was not impressed with the train ride home however. Normally it takes 50 or so minutes to get from Darlington to Leeds. That is unless you happen to be stuck behind the mail train. Then it takes 3 hours and you miss all possible connections. :x
Friday was actually quite an enjoyable day.
I spent a large part of the day recovering from the harrowing experience of the train journey then I received a text informing me that I would be seeing a film and eating a pizza that evening, or else.

Invert.
Insert.
Evert.
Go on, guess what on earth that has to do with anything. I bet there's someone out there that recognises that sequence of events.
I'll post the answer tomorrow.

So, nobody had an idea what the hell I was talking about in yesterdays entry. Or, as is the more likely scenario, none of you care!
No matter. I'll explain myself simply because I said I would.
The procedure detailed yesterday is the that which you use when you insert an Oropharyngeal (OP) Airway in the mouth of an unconscious patient (or conscious wierd bloke who seems to have no gag reflex!).
Invert the airway so that the long side of the curve faces downward.
Insert the airway carefully into the mouth up to the point at which the hard palatte ends.
Evert the airway so that it is the "correct way" round and holds the tongue in position.
If you did it right, you've got a clear airway and have secured the A of the ABC priorities.
Don't say I never teach you anything!

I challenge anybody to eat a Flake bar without making an absolute mess. I fear it involves forceps and some sort of suction device...
Back to uni on Sunday afternoon so I've spent much of this week "preparing". For a fresher preparing involves much organised purchasing of stuff and cataloguing of equipment to allow for every eventuality. I know this because it's what I did. For a returning student "preparation" takes on the air of panic.
I have spent what feels like weeks in our sweat box of an attic hunting for my "carefully archived" stuff. Just where does it all go? Ah well, there's still two whole days to melt the plastic and purchase replacements.
Next week will involve training for my new university job as sub warden in halls and then, the week later, the sane people arrive.
