I added emergency plumbing to the list of my previously undiscoverd talents today.

There was a massive leak coming from the cold water tank in the loft and there was a real danger that the ceiling in my sister's room might collapse.

I had a clamber into the loft and discovered that a large area of the plasterboard ceiling was soaked. There was a constant drip leading from the inlet to the cold water and it was clear that this wouldn't wait until an authority figure (also known as "the old man") got home from work to save us.

I closed the red tap to stop the flow of water to the tank and fiddled arounf with some pipes hoping to find the right one. :S

It took a long time, but somehow I managed to seal the drip with some special duct tape that I found in the garage. I might just have saved the ceiling.

It's ok girls, feel free to swoon. I know that I'm a hero beyond measure.

So folks, how did it go??

I know how the guys I went to college with did but I don't know what happened with the rest of you!

I was online for most of the day but none of you popped in to chat to see me

Hopefully that means that you're all out celebrating.

Currently Watching: Phoenix Nights on E4

Currently Listening to: Jerry "The Berry" St Claire sing Walking on Sunshine

Currently Reading: Nothing. I've pretty much exhausted all the books on my shelf. Suggestions as to what I should read next?

Current Mood:Less nervous than yesterday, but still likely to lose my finger nails and half of my digits before tomorrow.

A weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

Metaphorically...

and physically too for that matter!

I've had a hair cut! And I feel miles better for it. I don't know what is it about losing a few kilos (perhaps I'm exagerating here, but it was a lot of hair!) of body weight without the need to crash diet or undergo "interesting" surgical procedrues, but I feel great!

It really is bizarre. I'm exactly the same person I was this morning, only with neater, more tidy hair. I almost look human!

I can't think of anything more amazing than my new haircut

Currently Watching: Myself in the mirror what an amazing new hairdo!

Currently Listening to: Hoovering. Yes, the sound of a vacuum cleaner :|

Currently Reading: Still nothing. I can feel myself getting stupider by the second

Grr

JB let me down.

He'd promised to give me a lift to York for the race meeting this week but told me that I would have to make alternative arrangements since "something had come up". :x

Soooo, I had to dig up my Young Person's Railcard (see! I am still young, I have a card that says so!) and try to make my way to York by that antiquated nightmare that is the UK rail network.

I have numerous "colourful" comments to make regarding the revelation that just one train stops at the station in our villlage per day if you want to get to York. "Fair enough", you might say, "if you live on a tiny branch line, what do you expect?" But I live on the main Hull to York line which sees 20 odd trains going each way per day. Madness.

On arrival in York I decided to walk to the Race course. Yes, I am too cheap to pay for a taxi. I am even too cheap to pay a miniscule bus fair! So I walked.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it is, in fact, just a 20 minute walk, so I arrived at the duty in plenty of time to sign on before 11:00.

I'll explain what happened on the duty when I get some time, but right now, I'm off to bed since I'm wrecked!

Laters folks

I am still alive!

But I'm sooo tired. It's been such a busy day and I promise that I'll write about it on Friday when I've had some sleep!

I'm sorry about not updating this when I promised I would, but I am unbelievably tired. I've got a lot of sleep to catch up on and I'm on the verge of dropping off as I type this.

I will do it soon. Please bear with me!

Hark at my authority.

Two days in a row I have somehow managed to land myself management roles on St John duties.

Yesterday I was the Duty Officer at the Battle of Beverley re enactment (at which I managed, somehow, to attract an impressionable young lady!) and today I was acting as the Incident Officer at the Rugby (which we won!)

I'm still trying to write up the York Races gubbins, but it's such a time consuming thing. It's at the top of my mile high "to do" list. :S

It's been a bad news day today.

I have a long post detailing the ins and outs and it's all very depressing and anal. Therefore, I will not post it at this time.

In other news, I am off to Lightwater Valley tomorrow with Ben and a veritable orgy of young ladies. I will try very hard to remain deep, moody and thoughtful throughout the whole day.

It would appear that I have launched one kick too many at my poor, overworked computer and now it's starting to get its own back.

I had a nice long account of my jolly day at Lightwater Valley written up yesterday evening and was all set to post it when I got the hated Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and the desktop crashed.

I probably will never get to write it up again since I'm rushed off my feet at the moment but, in the unlikely event that I get a break in the work, I will "promise" to try to do it.

I finally got my list of peer tutees yesterday and I'm going to make contact with them on Monday since this weekend is pretty much a dead loss with the Trainer Course and the need for sleep.

I'll write more later...

Maybe!

Watching: Nothing - no time to watch TV!

Listening to: The pleasant hum of my laptop fan

Reading: Pre course requirements for Trainer Course
