Hurray, I finally have a day off!

Tomorrow will be the first weekday I've actually had off (ie not working at med school or in the GP surgery) since Christmas. How do I choose to spend this glorious, once in a blue moon?

I intend to spend as long as possible in bed. I may then pad around my house wearing a dressing gown; moving into the living room in order to watch daytime TV whilst eating coco pops.

Then I might just get showered.

    And then back to bed.

Actually, scratch that. I've got to go the England U21 match at the KC stadium in the evening, so I can't go back to bed.

Oh well. It'll be fun no doubt.

Well, today went very much according to my meticulously laid plans.

The only real alteration was the last minute addition of a couple hours of walking after lunch. It was really far too sunny to stay indoors all day, so I went for meander along the foreshore.

Oh bugger, my battery has run out. Will finish this tomorrow morning and tell you all about another cardiac event at the stadium.

The Paramedic that I'm usually paired with on the Incident Team has sworn never to be paired with me again. I can't think why...

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that in 3 months we've had to attend two cardiac events together or that when he's paired me with he tends to miss the goals because we're involved in treating someone. It may also have something to do with the fact that when I'm not back at home on duty at the stadium, he doesn't have much work to do.

Actually, on reflection, perhaps he has a point.

Today - no cardiac event at the stadium but there was a lady in a hypoglycaemic coma. Pierre did get to see 3 out of the 4 goals though, so it wasn't all bad.

Two days of easter eggs later and, on reflection, I am certain that the Milky Bar Kid (whilst strong and tough) is clearly evil and wants to ruin white chocolate for me. Clearly there shouldn't be a point at which chocolate repulses you but that little Milky bar boy has done something to me.

Lost: 1 hour of sleep. If found, please return to M Clayton, c/o MSG. Come back home, hour, I miss you.

Is it me or do the student loan application forms get more colourful and less straightforward as each year goes by?

That is the sum total of my work so far this week. Piles and piles of paperwork. Guess what happened after I took that picture.

    ...

No, I didn't attain Nirvana but that wasn't a bad guess. In fact, I was asked, nay told, to shred it all. Destroy all of the paperwork since the plan to file it had, in fact, been overturned.

The absolute and utter finality of it all. I don't even know if that's the right word. It's soul destroying - I think of all the effort I put into making sure that I filed things neatly in order of date and patient number and I feel like crying. Apparently, paper is prehistoric - computers are the way forward. I had, in fact, been the architect of my own demise. My hours of entering data at an efficient pace paved the way for this wholescale destruction.

Why am I getting this upset about a pile of paper?!

In other news, the lovely people at TENYAS got back to me and said that, if I got down on my knees and begged them they might consider me for a placement next year.

    So here goes...

    Currently I am;

    Reviving an old idea
Listening to: Jimmy Eat World, Sweetness
    Reading: John Grisham, The Broker
Eating: The last double chocolate cookie, mwah ha ha ha ha

Whilst I'm here and worked up - what's with all the religion on the forum at the moment?! I like a good argument as much as the next man but it's getting silly

    Ho hum.

Here I am at work. That's right, I'm using the internet for non work related stuff during my working day. I may just get the sack but at least that means I'd be able to spend some time asleep rather than sitting here doing silly little jobs that the manager has had to pull from thin air in order that I don't just sit here doing nothing.

I'm still bitter about the paperwork - I've just seen the bag of shreddings (is that what you call the remains of my hard work?) and it's big.

Oh well, must get back to my <insert thankless task here>

Huzzah! I'm now back in the world of the feckless, non working, lazy student.

Work is done with for a long time (the next 17 weeks at the very least) so I'm quite happy. I know that I'd be bored if I didn't have something to occupy my time during the holidays and that I needed the money I earnt in order to buy a computer but I still detest the work that I've been doing.

But the computer makes is all worthwhile...

Mmmmmm, newness with bluetooth and fancy gizmos

One moment please, my brother needs some kung fu style discipline...

    Currently I am:
Watching: Night of the Living Dead (original B&W Version)
Listening to: The above mentioned film... and my brother whinging
    Reading: The Broker (Still)

    Back up at uni now.

My house was an absolute disgrace when I arrived back. It was so bad my mum felt compelled to clean the living room before she would sit down and have a cup of tea! I wouldn't have minded but Lucy and I spent an age cleaning up before we went home at the end of term. This is the price you pay for living with other people and not being a loner hermit.

I've done very little else with my day. I sorted out my stuff when I got back up here and then I went for a run to remind myself just how unfit I've really become. My months of slobbery since Christmas mean that my usual 15 minute run took nearly half an hour and left my panting like a dog. I need to do more exercise!

Before I dash off to bed (early start for Public Health tomorrow) I'll leave you with my new nickname amongst the ambulance staff at the stadium - "Killer"
