    Warwick offers with a 2:i

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I just wanted to know how many people here are doing GEM at warwick that had a 2:i on their UG.

I also wanted to ask if you think I stand a chance:

I am doing Biomed Sci and predicted a 1st/ 2:i

    Work experience:

    GP Shadowing
    Hospital Placment
    Hospital Volunteering
    St James Ambulanc Volunteering

Please let me know, anyone studying GEM at Warwick that thinks they were in a similar situation, please do comment.

About 60-70% have 2:1s and you have about 4X as much experience as I had, its about saying what you learnt from your experience. Need a good balance of 2:1, UKCat of 640 or more, experience and what you learnt, examples of teamworking, sports etc. Got to be a rounded person

Thankyou for your reply. I'm just doing my personal statment, my GP said she would have a look a it once its done. I am trying not to list things as that would make it seem a bit boring.

My UKCAT is on Aug 25th, I am kinda "revising" for it. Im getting an average of 660/690 on my mocks.

Thankyou for your reply once again, it's helped me to calm down.

Hello, lol trust I know how u feel, well i've started on my personal statement, as soon as i finish that and get my ukcat score i'll send off my application, this may also be after Eid i guess, i just hope i do well in my ukcat inshallah......which is the only thing tht im worried about

Well inshallah everythings gonna turn out fine...

I dont really think tht sending the application early will make much difference as most uni's go through them all, once all the apllications are recieved......well thts what ive heard.

So i guess i'll see you in the open day
P.s. Good Luck for you ukcat.......mines a few days after urs

Warwick does not consider a first class honours degree as "worth" any more than a 2.1. It simply does not factor into the selection process. I don't agree with this but it is how they've decided to run things. Your UKCAT score, personal statement, and performance at the selection centre are worth much more.

If they start rating firsts as worth more than 2:1s they'll have to rate the degrees as well as a first in geography from Lancaster is not worth more than a 2:1 in biomedical engineering from Imperial, thats why they've decided to just say 2:1 minimum. I have to say I like the system, certainly almost everyone who gets through deserves to be there.

You know how they say a first isn't worth more than a 2.1, then is it fair to say a 2.1's not worth more than a 2.2?
