Warwick Tuition Fees
The University of Warwick has agreed that for the academic year 2006/07 that first year medical students will be permitted to pay £1200 followed by £900 in the second year and £900 in the third year. Any student leaving the course before graduation will still be asked to pay the full amount. The University is hoping that this will help spread the load of fees out and assumes that NHS bursary payments will help with paying fees in years 2 and 3.

I don't suppose you would mind me asking where this information came from? Is it published somewhere or on a website? Sounds like good news though - thanks for the heads up!

hi. i have also read this somewhere (but can't recall). it is a DoH bursary (department of health).
essentially the government wants more graduates to apply for medicine, and wants tthem to apply for the 4 yr course. they "understand" the financial difficulties so they give a bursary. essentially the burtsary pays for years 2-4. (about 9,000 pounds). ironically, if you are a graduate going into a 5 yr course, you are guaranteed to NOT get funding! quite funny.
you can also get funding for the first yr, if you have not received a scohlarship/bursary before ...but this is completely seperate to the DoH bursary. like, some ppl have scholarships from their home country for example. this will only pay for ur first yr no matter how big it is.
i wasnt aware you could pay the required 3,000 in 3 parts tho.

Hi guys, I've just started applying for loans etc and most people I've spoken to have been really helpful!
First of all as graduates for the accelerated MBChB course my LEA (Leeds) have said I am entitled to apply for a student loan, but this is not for fees! We pay the course fees ourself and are entitled to a maintanance loan only.
I think under the new 2007/8 guidelines LEA's are being told to provide maintanance loans for medics, although I'm not sure if it applies to grads applying for 5 yr (as mentioned in an earlier post). Just get in touch with your local LEA and ask where you stand.
Antother word of advice from the lady I spoke to from my LEA, was to complete a paper copy of the loan application form and also submit a covering letter at the same time just to explain my cicumstances rather than completing an online application. This is because the online application will not recognise my application as being a grad for an accelerated med degree.
Oh and student finance at Warwick said students were able to pay £1220 1st yr, £945 2nd yr and £900 3rd yr. As already mentioned in another post.
I hope this is helpful
