What has become of the supplementary application form?!
What has happened to the supplementary application form?! It is no longer listed as a contributing factor on the LWMS website! I spent the last two years tailoring my experiences to that form and the last two weeks filling it out. Can anyone - ahem, Jake? - confirm that the Warwick SAF is now obsolete? Thanks!

Hiya
Er, I haven't heard anything from the tutors but then I have only been here a day, but on WMS site it states:
There are three components for 2006 entry candidates:
UCAS application
Medical Schools Admission Test - MSAT
Interview or Selection Centre.
So it seems that they aren't using it anymore. What I suggest you do is contact admissions if you are still unsure, the details are on the top of this Warwick forum or on the WMS site.
Good luck with your app!

*sighs*
Have fun at Warwick; its a really nice place and the med school seems to be more organised than some GEPs. I'll be there next week - although, alas, next door in the biosci department for now

Good god, seems like an age since I graduated from biosci at Warwick this summer. If they have scrapped it then I might be able to shed some light on the issue. When I went for interview at Warwick I got into the room with the interviewer and he went "Oh, and I should probably tell you that I haven't seen your personal statement, MSAT score or SAF. In fact, all I know is your name".
Understandably that threw me a hell of a lot. I think they were trying out some sort of study into equality or some other stuff, and maybe as part of that they found out that the SAF didn't help them too much. I have to say that I'm not bothered. I'm at Liverpool now, having a fab time. I loved Warwick, but it was time for me to move out. Good luck with BioSci, and make sure you choose good dissertation topics!

Have a look at:

Warwick maybe trialing a new selection process using a selection centre - it remains unclear whether this will be the case or not as yet. Keep your eye on the link above to see what happens.Dr Jake

Jake, any insight in to why these changes have occured / are occuring?
At the bedside emergency no one was ever heard to cry out 'Thank goodness, here comes the clinical pharmacologist'.

I'm not Jake, however, I do know from the admissions tutor that Warwick are no longer using the SAF. It is official and you can quote me!
How annoying after I'd laboured over it and was fretting over the last two sections.
Well, thats one less distraction. Oh well.Just an alias

A selection centre?! Is there no end to the labours they hurl at us? The SAF was a good opportunity for strong candidates to expand on points which cannot be done justice in 47 lines of a personal statement. This applicant does not welcome the use of selection centres!

Perhaps I can answer this one. 'Someone' in admissions told me that there is pressure to move away from measuring 'experience' (using interviews, SAFs etc) as these are seen to favour candidates from more middle class backgrounds. The powers that be apparently prefer more structured modes of selection such as admissions tests, selection centres etc. I will refrain from stating my views on this issue lest I start foaming at the mouth :P

On Monday, we were told that Warwick had been meeting with other GEPs, and are thinking of trialing a central application route if i heard it correctly. So removing the SAF may be a way of conforming to a central application route.
