Anyone on this hoping to go to UL this sept?
Hiya, Im hoping to go UL this sept to start grad medicine. just wondering if anyone else on here is in the same boat? planning on going down to the open day next week to see whats its like down there. if there is any current student in UL around here i'd love some fed back on how you are finding the course? is there a medical/health library on campus or do you just use the main lib? how do you find the early patient contact module?

Yeah Im hoping to go - Im not sure whether to put this or UCD as my first choice though. I would prefer UL but I'm a little apprehensive of the PBL system so if any current students could give some feedback that would be great.
Im also heading down to the open evening next week.
What do you think the GAMSAT cut - off will be? I got 59 so I think I should be ok but you can never be too sureUKCAT 2010 637.5 570, 720, 670, 590
GAMSAT UK 2010 59 56, 67, 55

but like u really apprehensive about the PBL -on one hand i like the idea of it but i feel we could be just wondering around not knowing what we are meant to be studying hopefully we will get better idea about it all nxt thurs

Well guys - your best bet would be to have a look through some of the other threads in the UL secrtion here, and you'll find almost every aspect of the course outlined from a student's perspective by someone or other. I'd recommend having a good read through them and then post any questions that weren't covered or that you're not clear on.
UL class of 2012.
I think my brain is full.

I'm hoping for an offer this year. Have a borderline score of 57 so just have to wait and hope.
Just wondering, has anybody spoke to Ulster Bank or AIB about a loan?
Should I wait til offers to come out before I look into accomodation?
Many Thanks

most of us went with AIB b/c it's a better deal, but feel free to check it out. Jackie/Jenny will sort you out if you want to call in to the castletroy branch (no harm to ring and get an appt).
I had a 62 so I booked cappavilla (campus res) around about this time last year, although as far as I can recall, I THINK that if you give them a call and explain that you are an incoming grad med (hopefully) but that you won't know for sure if you have a place until Aug, that they agreed to refund the deposit if you fail to get a place. No harm trying anyway?GAMSAT '10: 62

International LM entry
Hi all,
I am currently a singaporean based in Australia. Completed all my uni work in Australia. Here, it is not compulsory to do an honours year. I did a BSc (w/o hons), and moved on to a 2 year clinical/coursework/research masters. I am now working towards finishing my PhD at the moment. I was just wondering if it is possible to submit a masters in lieu of the honours (as a requirement)? I also did the Australian GAMSAT (61) and was wondering if this combination will give me a chance for an international place at LM?
Also, the application periods are usually 6 mths prior to the start of the MBBS grad program in Australia. Is this the same here for LM? I noticed the closing date is somewhere in June for a start date in Sept. Is this for the following year? or the current year?
Any help would definitely be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

I would steer you well away from UlsterBank, I suspect they will attempt to squeeze you for the max amount of interest available when you graduate, initially they were asking the graduates for 11.3% APR while AIB, without any bargaining, offered its medical students 6% straight off the bat.
