so I had my interview today, it wasnt the best but we'll see. Does anyone know how much the interview weighs in the application process and final decision?

My interview went really well. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the questions were not too difficult. Also, having the 1 minute break between each station gave you a breather and allowed you to compose an answer before entering the room.

UEA call the interview the 'acid test', so I should think it carries a substantial amount of weight in the selection process.

As far as I understood the interview is weighted 100% so that it's a level playing field for everyone. Each applicant gets a score from interview, these are then ranked (hence why you have to wait for every interview to be completed before offers released) and the top 240 given offers.
    Applying 2010:

    UEA: 5yr - Offer! (Declined)
    Sheffield: 5yr - Offer! (Declined)
    Barts 4yr - Offer! (FIRM)
    Warwick 4yr - Offer! (Declined)

Grad applicant just about finishing a PhD
    UKCAT - 732.5

hey, good luck everyone who had their interviews. I have mine on feb 1st. I know nobody wants to tell exactly what questions they had but are the pretty similar to the type u get everywhere else; why medicine? why UEA? What do u know about the course? etc. I know they have the scenario questions. Are they similar to the one they have on their website? Nothing weird or out of the ordinary?

    Hi
I am current first yr medic at UEA. The scenarios on the website are similar to the ones they have in the interview itself, they always seem to have one about a fellow med student having a crisis and what you would do. My other scenarios were about ethics and law and what i would do when faced with a seemingly catch-22 situation (which isn't as awful as it seems as long as you can explain your thought process and reasoning). (that isn't to say you will get a catch-22 like scenario though).
I did crap myself when i sat outside the little room reading the scenario but once you are in there it isn't so bad (even with the interviewers who are a little stand-offish towards you, one in particular i had for interviews i have had this year for clinical teaching sessions and he actually turned out to be a nice guy) i just went in with a clear idea of what i was going to say and i thought about any obvious follow-up questions they i might be asked (you are given plenty of time to read the scenario and think about it).
the other three questions weren't so bad either but i would recommend you know the style of the course and be able to explain why you chose UEA.
Anyways about UEA itself, i love it here (i did my biomedicine degree here also and i loved it so much i came back!) they are a very laid back university and the campus itself is really nice. I also like norwich which people are always surprised to hear but it is a nice place and i think there is plenty of social stuff to do here.

anyways good luck with interviews if anyone is still waiting to have theirs

How many students going to UEA med are actually graduates generally? I recently got an unconditional offer to UEA and am writing up my MSc soon- just wondering if there are others who have heard back yet with a graduate background?
