    Parking/Car park

    Hello everyone,

I keep hearing current students say that there aren't any car parks (no parking) at UEA. I find this rather perplexing, when I attended my interview I found a massive car park with quite a few spaces one of which I took up and left my car without any problems whatsoever. I think it was a pay and display one, there were also signs for further car parks elsewhere.

Is there anything wrong with using those car parks on a daily basis? When current students say there is no parking, do you mean that there isn't one designated for medics or maybe just that there is no free parking? I don't mind paying for car park as long as there is available space after all, I do it all the time and even did it at work so that wouldn't be a shock to the system but I would most certainly worry if there was absolutely no car park to use. Perhaps someone could elucidate, please? Thank you in anticipation.

Students aren't allowed to park on campus unless they have a parking permit which aren't easy to get hold off and there's no guarantee there'll be a space. There is a car park specifically for students, but again, it is permit only and no-one who has lived on campus or lives within 2 miles of campus can have a permit (except for health/welfare reasons). Some students pay every day (at £1 per hour) but that gets very expensive and finding a parking space isn't easy as on normal uni days, the main car park is full by 8.40am.

Gaia is right....and you have to remember as well that it isn't term time at the mo, hence why there are spaces available in the car park - or at least more than usual.
