Intercalated Degrees
HI all
does anyone have info regarding intercalated degree opportunities at uea?
in a package i have it says: "our curriculum provides opportunities for intercalating to studies outside Medicine to obtain a BSc (Hons) or Masters Degree between 4th and 5th years"
but in another package it says: "we do not offer an intercalated BSc degree in Medicine. However, we do offer an intercalated masters option instead following completion of Year Four of the MB/BS"
so i see the option to do one outside medicine but i don't understand what that means. can someone help me out?I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me, Superman

i think it basically means we can get a BSc in most things but we can't get a medical one.
Or i'm completely wrong.
Or you knew that already and you were asking about something else.

Basically you can intercalate in whatever degree you want just that you can't do a medical degree (because your already on it!). So people take the year and don't intercalate and undertake their research project, one other person is doing an MSc in cardiology someone else is doing neuroscience at kings.

Because us medics are superfantastic and are able to do them in just one year.
I'm not entirely sure actually but i've heard (note- not from a very reliable source) that they put the intercalaters on fast track courses, so it's extra condensed. I've also heard (from the same source) that some unis suggest you choose a scientific/medically based one that you'll know most of the stuff for.
This source is a girl in my year who's sister's husband did medicine and intercalated, and he's a genius and has about 6 degrees on top of his medical one.
I highly doubt any of this helps and would also like a little more info concerning this.

does anyone know if it is very competitive to get on an intercalated degree, i mean do only certain number of students have that opportunity or can anyone?
i heard that our medical course provides us with enough of the basics in order to only do the final year of the degree rather than the full three years, i might be wrong though.

but could i stay at uea and intercalate in a BSc degree at the end of year four instead of doing a masters?
and why do they make it after year 4? because if some people intercalated and others didn't, then after finishing the intercalated degree and going back to the mbbs for year 5 wouldn't u have a bunch of different people in ur class?I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me, Superman
