UEA requirement in biology
Okay so I have applied to UEA but their entry requirements are confusing me.
On the website they say that from the IB a minimum of 7 in Biology HL which I find a bit silly with the 'minimum' since you cannot have more than 7 anyway
I emailed them about this because of the fact that NO ONE in my school has ever had a 7 in biology HL (and we have had the IB quiet a long time with excellent 44 points students who presumably lost their 45 due to a 6 in Biology and we think it is because of the internal assessments). They replied and told me that from the IB they actually required a 6 in Biology.
Their ucas profile however tells a total different story as it asks for a minimum of a 5 in biology.
Basically, I am confused. Anyone know anything about this matter?

phone up a few times this week, different days, different times - with different accents. Ask the same question .... and whatever the most common response is ... go with it, but aim for the highest !!

Just don't try a Norfolk (Narfalk) accent. Everyone ends up sounding like they are from the West Country!

No she's right....because you can't get more than what they said is the minimum...

But....but....but.... !
Minimum means "no less than"
Maximum means "no more than"
So they're saying "no less than a 7"
Saying "maximum of 7" would be silly, because you can't get any more . . .
They basically are doing the same as somewhere which says only an A grade is good enough......
Think "minimum AAA for entry to medicine" as a comparison . . .
Replace that with "maximum of AAA for entry to medicine . . . " and you'll see where I'm coming from . . .
(Just trying to help btw!

Alright, do you guys want me to remove the 'silly' bit? Because there is an edit button you know
I just find this entire conversation entirely amusing.
Although using both 'minimum' and 'maximum' would have sounded silly for me. I read minimum as 'the smallest amount' which meant that there are grades above it but maximum would be 'the highest amount' and also wouldn't make sense :/
Oh and thank you all for the help
