Has Anyone being rejected by UEA?

    Hi all,

this is my first thread and at the expense of sounding very negative i just would like to know if anyone out there has been rejected by UEA? I have applied and I am yet to hear anything and basically i think i will be rejected and wondered i anyone feels the same or has already had some bad news from UEA feel free to share..

I am really worried since they are interviewing does that mean us who have not heard a thing have been unsucceful?

Aaaaggh... this waiting is so frustrating...

    skittles

ps. apologies to those i might have offended with such a negative thread.

Lots of hoping and praying going on here as well. I haven't heard a thing, it is really really frustrating.

Is anyone else worried by the lack of interviews UEA seem to give? I think I read somewhere here that they only interview about 300.

No, they give 500 interviews (sometimes more if they don't think the first lot of applicants are good enough and don't give them offers). That's for 250 offers, double the spaces on the course.

Interviews are going on into April so there's still loads of time left - I know it's frustrating and you feel like you've been forgotten but it's a long process.

I got a letter on 5th April asking me to come for an interview and up til then I hadn't heard a thing - not having heard yet means nothing! Hang in there

Thanks Xahha for that info. Just another query about this as i am desperate to know...I kind of have a year contract of rent riding on getting an offer at the moment

Having had my interview 2 weeks ago now and it being the beginning of the month now, how long is it before they let people know after having an interview? I had heard that it would be within a month, I'm really hoping so.

Also, this is probably worth going on another thread so people tell me otherwise, but if (oh if...) I get a conditional offer of a 2:1 and I get a 2:2, has anyone experienced this and still got in? I heard that UEA were 2:2 friendly by various threads on forum and a website but I just want a little evidence of this.

    Cheers.
    Becky

3rd year UEA Biology undergraduate (predicted a dodgy 2:1) applying to:

    UEA - 5 year - Had interview
    BSMS - 5 year - Rejected
KCL - GEP - Rejected....well with 45th percentile on MSAT, I was still happy
St George's - GEP - waiting on GAMSAT

    Hey becky,

After each month of interviews, the top third of candidates are given offers, the bottom third are rejected and the middle third are pooled (ie. they're kept until after the next month so they can be compared with the people in the mext session).

I'm not sure whether they do it in calendar months or a month's worth of interviews, think they started interviewing mid Jan (??) so the end of the month could be now or mid Feb. In which case it'll be a month (roughly) from then unless you're pooled.

Most people I know here heard within a month (think I got a letter in 3 weeks), so it shouldn't be too long I guess. Sorry it's not possible to be more specific - that's the nature of these horrid processes - so bloody ambiguous!

    Hope all goes well!

Can i just confirm the size of the first year intake please. Xaaha you have mentioned that there are 250 places available, and i thought there were only 130 or so places available. Dont know why i think that, maybe because the other new medical schools all have around 130 places.

If someone could please clarify this, it'd be great!

    Cheers
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

    Applied to:

    BSMS: Unsuccessful (w/o interview) 07/02
    UEA: Unsuccessful (w/o interview) 20/03
    Imperial: Interview 06/04
    Manchester: Unsuccessful (w/o interview)

they give out 250 offers but they don't expect to be the first choice for everyone and there will be people who don't get the grades they need

I fond their way of doing things really frustrating, i know they probably going to reject me, but why take so long to tell someone no when you are going to anyways,

they seem not to have rejected anyone till now, (or thats how it seems), its looking as if they are going to reject a lot at one go, but why keep someone hanging though????

aaaaarghhhhhhh... all this waiting is driving me mad
