    QR timing

I really suck at this section I can never get anywhere close to getting it finished in the time given.

Is it just worth going through them as quick as possible if the data given is very complicated just taking a wild guess, flagging and skipping and doing the same for questions that require a lot of calculations? then if I have time left at the end going back through

A wild guess isn't the best option, an educated guess could be. Always flag it if you've guessed so if there's time at the end you can come back from the review screen.

Keep practicing and you'll eventually get better, which materials are you using to practice?

I found I really struggled in this section, but the actual test was easier than I had thought it would be so I managed to do alright in it. Try a rough calculation in your head whilst attempting the question so you get a ball park figure which might eliminate certain answers so you can take a guess at the remaining answers.

Long story short - keep practicing, use new, hard material like the 600q book (I found UKCAT Revision - UKCAT questions and support from UKCATPrep.com was useful) and take an educated guess if a hard question is taking too long to answer.

    Good luck in your test!

OK thanks for the tips, I've gone through all the questions in the 600Q book I'm also using medify which shows how long you take to do each Q atm I average at about 50s. I guess I will just have to practice more and hope everything goes well on the day, exams friday

You are one of a long list of people to make the same complaint!

The trouble is the the 600Q's QR questions are composed of the very worst and most computational heavy questions that you can get in the real thing and just not possible to do in the time given. I was in despair when preparing the first time, as maths in "my thing". yet I was only able to complete half the questions in the time. When the real thing came along, everything was a lot simpler the first time, and I got 880 for QR in my first sitting.

When I applied the year after, I did get a few of the more computational Q's, like in the 600Q's book, so I had to guess some to stay within time. That year I got 790 for QR.

The problem is that you get a random selection of questions, so its the luck of the draw.

I had the opposite thing happen in AR, where I went from 760 to 880, which improved my average despite the drop in my QR score.

Well sat mine on friday got 770 in QR after all that panic
My advice would be to just make sure you keep calm and dont worry to much about the harder questions guess, flag and keep going.

Nice job, hope you're proud of your score! Sound advice there, don't get too flustered from one question, flag it and move on!
