UKCAT MARKS 2010 and CUT-OFFS
Hi,
I just did my UKCAT this weekend:
VR 580
QR 790
AR 690
DA 650
Average 678
Does anyone know if the universities look at average or individual marks and which universities would be good to apply to with these marks? I am thinking of applying to dundee, sheffield, southampton and aberdeen..does anyone know there cut-off marks?
Thanks in advance for any help

I'm almost in the same boat as you: 590/680/690/730. Idk, there's just sth weird with the VR this year.

I was suprised with my VR mark though, I thought I did well on it. I was doing bad on QR in the practice tests and good in VR but it switched in the actual exam..

Well, I found on the ukcat explanation of results that for 590 in VR you should answer around 25/44 correctly and that's exactly what I was achieving at home. I think I would have been over 600 if I would have blind-guessed the last 12 with can't tell instead of true. Bummer.

be careful with sheffield, because i think the cut off last year was around 685-690 and could go up to 700. Manchester wants like 650 and so does durham. I dont know much about the other places you want to apply to tho.

well the first thing i would suggest is get the 600q book and start practising. for the AR section, the more practice you do, the better u will get because u know where to look for relationships. i personally think there is litle to do with abstract reasoning being intuitive; it just comes with practice. the tips and instructions before every section are very useful as well. timing isn't very important at first because ur primary objective is 2 get used 2 those questions. once u are more familiar with them, u will get faster naturally. if u do a solid 2 hours each day and finish the mock exam at the back of the book as well as the three mock tests on the ukcat website, u should be on your way to a fairly high score! the preparation can be a bit frustrating at first i know, but trust me it gets better very quickly. it should take no more than 10 days.
anything else just pm me, my pleasure 2 help you
