Help with UKCAT layout please?!
Hi
I am taking the UKCAT soon but I wanted to know what the layout of the exam is like
on the computer. I have been practicing using the 600 questions book so I understand the
layout of the questions but what is it like on-screen?
I've tried to download the practice exam from the website but for some reason
it will not run on my computer!!
I wanted to know if you can go back to questions if you have time remaining? Does it show you a timer so you kow how long you have left? Does it just finish the section if you run out of time or does it give you a warning that it's going to end? can you change your answers or leave answers blank and go back to them if you have time?
it may sound strange wanting to know this but i want to be as prepared as possible and I have no idea about the on-screen format!
Any help/advice will be much appreciated!!
Thanks

Hi,
It's not strange at all, I would try and get the practice tests from the ukcat site working as that's exactly what it's like on-screen during the actual test.
However, I'll try my best to describe it =]
You can go back to questions at any point during the test (within the section that you're on), there's also a review at the end of the section (presuming you finish with a little time left) that you can look at any questions you want. If you feel you want to go back to a question later though I would suggest making an educated guess and flagging it as opposed to leaving it blank (that way it will stand out in the review as being flagged but if you run out of time then at least you have an answer).
There is also a timer on the top-right of the screen that will show you how much time you have left, no warning I'm afraid but a quick glance every now and then should allow you to manage the time okay. I would say though don't get too hung up on the time i.e. don't allow yourself exactly x amount of seconds per question - some will take more or less time than the average you'll have worked out.
Hope this helps and hope you get the tests working =]
And also good luck!

Heya - I couldnt get the tests to work on my computer either, do you have windows vista? i phoned the number on the website to ask why, and the guy talked me through how to fix it
its something to do with disabling the UAC and then installing the latest version of java - that meant nothing to me so i got my dad to do it haha but maybe itl mean something to you? or you can get someone to help. anyway i'd call the people up and get it fixed
unless youve already taken the test by now..xx

Fluffy
Try "uninstalling" it, then, find the directory it leaves behind, and delete it. restart you computer and then install it in a *Different* directory.
Many people have had issues installing the practice test., and this solved if for a lot (but not all) of us.
