Question Is the UKCAT a computer adaptive test?

    Hi All
Read this on the post entitled "Calculators" and I would really like to know the answer as I'm sure will the OP -Gravymister who quoted this....

the Byron book says to avoid this. Also... it sayes about the following:

"Whatever you do, avoid a bad start
A bad start is something you should work hard to avoid in any test but especially in a
computer-adaptive test like the UKCAT. Get the first few questions wrong and the
computer-adaptive test will present you with easier questions and you will struggle to get
back to the level expected by many institutions. This adaptive process continues through
the test, so keep trying to get as many questions right as possible to maximize your
chance of being awarded a winning score."

This is the only place I've heard the computer adaptive mechanism mentioned. Is this true?

    Has anyone knowledge of this?
    Thanks
    Evelyn.

Just to confirm: the UKCAT is NOT a computer adaptive test. Everyone gets questions taken at random from the bank of questions.

Thanks Kaodeve, I guess I can only conclude the Byron book is pretty crap really. I preferred the 600 questions book anyway it was much better!
