Are free online UKCAT tests remotely realistic

I probably don't need to do a UKCAT for anywhere I'm considering but I did some free online tests on various sites anyway.

I've always been pretty strong on IQ tests (125-140) but was rubbish on any of the freebie test I did online. I'm just assuming they use overly hard examples on the free tests so you go on to buy their practice material.
    Tell me I'm right!

One example would be (numerical section) Give the average for the UK - There was a graph with UK regions including 'Other' - It was marked wrong as I included 'Other' in my calculations. WTF!

Another eg. was the abstract section. 3 triangles. Group A only has triangles, group B only has diamonds. Correct answer - Neither, based on some specific criteria.

I agree this book is brilliant because it explains in good detail every question in the book. I used this book to understand what was going on in each section, and used OnExamination for more practice questions. It sucks that you have to pay so much for preparing, but realistically you have a much better chance with an impressive ukcat score (as well as strength in other areas i.e. grades, work experience, your general ethos to studying medicine). The key to ukcat is to do as many questions as possible. Even if it's doing every question in the book, do them again so that you not only understand WHAT the answer is, but also WHY the answer is.

FYI I got 550 average without the aforementioned book or website, and this year i used the book and the website combined and got av. 680.

Some are and some aren't - I have seen some that are far too easy and will end up giving you false confidence.

The 3 keys to UKCAT Success are Practice, Timing, and Timing your Practice.
