Need help on VR and QR!!

    Hey guys

Ive been reading around on this forum for quite a while now but this is the first time i am posting. I have my UKCAT cuming up very soon and need help on the VR and QR. I know that many people have asked this but i wanted to get some specific answers. For VR im not very good at this bit. How could i improve?? ive been trying quite a few questions and seem to be getting round the half way mark. As for the QR i can do the maths but the there is a problem of the shortage of time. I seem to get just passed the halfway mark.

Also could anyone please help and tell me what the exam was like this year. Are the questions difficult or simpler than the practice questions online?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks!!

look at Verbal Reasoning - What Strategy to Use? and The Student Room - Announcements in Forum : Medicine
for help. VR passages were a bit long so take care on time. QR was okay. Have you got any books with guidance for each section? My main council lib and careers advice service had 600 Practice Q/ Taking The UK Clinical Apt Test/ Succeeding In The UKCAT.
Get plenty of rest and eat sensibly on the day so you are alert. Good luck

I just did my ukcat on friday
i got good scores (750 average) with 700 in vr and 880 in qr
i know this is stating the obvious but practice...
here is a huge list of potential practice questions
UKCAT - Practice Questions and Useful Resources - The Student Room
even the sample ones from ukcat practice online are good and can be accessed from the list above
i timed myself every time i practiced which helps a lot with speed; although i only finished about 25-8 questions when i practiced, i managed 36 in the real thing
it is also worth noting that your actual questions are taken from a huge database, for example i didn't get any tax or train timetable questions in qr, but a friend did
do as many qr questions properly as you can before staring to guess
i hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks conorcd. yeah ive got a book that is available from kaplan course. its got loads of questions on there and so have just been using that. Ive also got the UK Clinical Aptitude Test and BMAT book but think that is not good.

Thanks buchaneyes. yeah i was trying the practice questions from the UKCAT website and got to around question 18 and then got bored...lol..yes i got bored I think it could have been due to the fact that it was taking rather a long time to do the questions. Got the real thing coming up this week. Any last minute advice??
