    Cut off on the ukcat!!

    Hi,

I am a college student and want to apply for 2010 entry. I have taken my ukcat and avg. 620 so not the best!! Results were:

    580- VERBAL
    560-ABSTRACT
    620-QUANT.
    720- DECISION A.

Just wondered whether anyone knew of any cut off points for the ukcat at any universities. As I have got less than the 600 in 2 modules will this really lower my chances.

Choices are keele, manc, sheff and leeds. Heard manch take into acount a lot!

Any advice would be really apreciated.

    Thanks,

    Abu

Sheffield was 675 last year (670 the year before) but Barts was 612.5 and haven't heard of anywhere else that wanted more than 615. Some unis look at average and some look at individual components so I would check their websites to be sure.Don't apply for Sheffield with 620

Also check uni websites and contact the admissions officers of each uni to see if they think you should still apply

Sheffield should be a no-go. Everywhere else, you're fine.

    Hii

Thank you for the reply...That was quick!!

I want to ask you one more question if u don't mind...
I had 4A*, 2A, B at English lit and C at English lang. , and I've heard that most uni's want B at English...So I'm thinking of retaking it in Nov. this year coz I've just found out about it this year... Is that a big problem?? I'm very worried!
I was new to this country when I did my GCSE's :-/ ...Is it enough just to state that in the reference?
Oooh and my AS's are very good..I got 5 A's and predicted A's for uni

Most places seem to be okay with GCSE re-sits (don't just take my word for it though, clear it up yourself), so I would advise you re-do the English language and hope to get a B. It is the minimum at many medical schools, though you can get away with a C at some.
