01-10-2009, 01:16 AM #52It is not 31. Please can people stop saying it is (or was) >.>Thank you for your email enquiring about admission to the Medical degree at Queen’s University Belfast. In addition to performance at GCSE, points are added or subtracted for UKCAT performance and an overall score calculated. The threshold varies from year to year; this year we have made offers to those with 34 points overall.2010 entry:

I had to reschedule my UKCAT due to unforeseen circumstances! Im a re-applicant and Ive got my UKCAT tomorrow!! I got a 500 last year and I supppose with a score like that it's no wonder I got no offers. I was looking to apply at Edinburgh Peninsula and Leicester. Was just wondering what type of score I should be praying for tomorrow? Ive been practicing but the timings just seem impossible!
My grades are GCSE : 9A*S 1A
A-Level: 5 A (Bio chem Geog General studies and Maths)
As: A (F maths) b (eng lang)
was wondering if these would effect what kind of score unis would be looking for?
Any help would be much appreciated as Im panicking like mad

Edinburgh: 650+ would make your application very strong, as your grades are very good and they don't interview often (so all parts of your application will be strong, and you can't mess up at interview!)
Peninsula: Not 100% sure to be honest. An average ~600 should see you through. Again, because of your grades.
Leicester: Lowest score >600 would be very good. >500 wouldn't be the end of the world though either. Just try not to get lower than 500 in any subtests!
Best of luck tomorrow!2010 entry:

Hello everyone
I am one of those people making last minute choices and still not sure where would be best given my overall grades/UKCAT- any advice greatly appreciated.
I am a graduate, lots of healthcare experience, got 650 average UKCAT (600+ in all sections), A-levels are not brilliant (B History,C Biology,E Chemistry - but started AS Chem again this year), but have a good 2:1 in Biology type degree.
So far am sure I am applying to Manchester and Warwick, but now really stuck between Newcastle, Southampton, UEA, Leicester or Keele for last 2 places.
Was thinking of Newcastle but got told by admissions lady that they cut off at 2730 last year, assuming this will go up this year so that has put me off a bit (although that seems to be contradicted by comments people have made on this thread???).
Not sure about cut off for other unis I am loking at (except Leicester)....Help - having last minute panic!!!
Thanks
xx
