How to do well at Verbal Reasoning?
Yo guys, just wondering... if there is any way to do really well at verbal reasoning apart from guessing? It seems to be my weakest link at the moment (even though the rest are pretty weak anyways). Got my test this friday! - NOO
Cheers.

Well, I done mine today and scored reasonably well.
All I do is read the passage 'once' at a moderate - fast speed, and then answer the question with my gut feeling (I never look back through the passage; I start to panic if I do =D.)
But I find that works for me. Maybe try it and see how you get on with that?
Good luck Friday too!2010 entry:

I bet you're glad it's over

Cool, i'll give tht a try! - Thanks for the tip.
In comparison to the 600book (I know this must have been asked a billion times) but did the VR, AR and DA sections in your test today seem easier/harder than the book?
oh and thanks for the good luck (I'll need it!!)

VR: Around the same
AR: Around the same
DA: Slightly harder (there are less 'obvious' answers and the codes are often longer.)
QR: Easier... Although I believe I was quite unfortunate myself; many say they had just a table or two to get the answers from, whereas I was often given a load of graphs which really were quite complex (and I thought Maths was going to be my chance to shine!)
Hope this helps!2010 entry:

Yup, I know they do. =D (Well, I've never seen someone say that University X does not use GCSEs anyway.)
I'm disappointed with my results, but I know they could be much worse. I'd describe them as 'acceptable'.
However, like with many other things, different Universities have different weighting on GCSEs. Cardiff for example loves to see high GCSEs as do Queens Belfast. Most are pretty leniant, and by no means are our GCSEs 'bad' (in my opinion anyway) and should not become an obstacle while we choose our Universities (apart from 2-3.)
Liverpool also give the same value to an A as they do an A* too.Last edited by magpie7; 27-08-2009 at 01:01 AM.
