    quantitative reasoning

    Hi,

I'm new to the UKCAT and am a bit clueless.
I've just started practising it and it seems impossible.
Are you allowed to use a calculator for the quantitative reasoning, or at least sufficient 'working out' paper?

You get a mini whiteboard and a marker pen to work out on. The only calculator you can use is the computer-based one.

Had I been able to use my own calculator, I'd have been able to score much higher, which I think sucks because I have the mathematical ability to corrently answer the questions, just not the finger-clicking speed needed to use Windows' calc :-P

    calculator only windows based one?

Andy have you contacted Pearson ? they told me that I would be GIVEN a hand held calculator. there are also numerous threads throughout this forum stating that a hand held calculator will be given.

I suggest you verify your information before misinforming others.

When i did it i was given a mini whiteboard and a hand-held calculator to work with. It is a simple calculator (doesnt do any fancy stuff- just the usual addition, subtraction, division and multiplication) but is fine for the UKCAT as you dont need complicated functions.

You SHOULD be given a calculator or be allowed to bring in your own non-scientific one. If they dont give you one, ask for it.
