To all who have done the UKCAT - A question

To everyone who has done the UKCAT,

How hard is the UKCAT? Are the verbal reasoning questions as hard as the practice UKCAT questions on the official website? Are the abstract reasoning questions very hard? What about decision analysis questions, are they hard/tricky? I've done some practice questions from the apply 2 medicine book, oneexamination and Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) website and the abstract reasoning questions are hard. For those of you who have used the same websites as me, in comparision, how hard is the UKCAT to them? Is it easier. Good luck with your med school applications.

    Regards

The only difficult thing about the UKCAT is the time limit, especially for verbal and quantitative reasoning.

Verbal reasoning on the real test is easier than the UKCAT web site practice test because the paragraphs are a lot shorter. When I did the practice test I really panicked at the length of some of the paragraphs!

I used oneexamination and I do not think it was good for verbal reasoning, I felt they did not always use the rule "do not assume anything, just base answers on what you read", I remember reading some feedback to questions and they said you can assume this so the answer cannot be "cant tell"!

Just make sure you keep your eye on the time and when you oly have a couple of minutes left guess the rest. You will have sufficient time to complete Abstract reasoning and decision analysis. Abstract reasoning, just learn the different patterns that may appear, you can get better with practice, decision analysis, if the answer is not clear then try to eliminate wrong answers.

    best of luck

some say its easier than the practice , but then again the questions are diffrent for every other student, so.. mine was crap tbh but oh well. as long as you familiar with thr type of questions esp, abstract reasoning you should be kinda ok..
n wen i doubt jus guess , dnt waste time tryna crack your head on somethin you know u aint got a clue about.
    good luck

First thing is don’t panic! All the questions in the UKCAT can be answered; however it’s the time limit that is the biggest problem. The test is designed for you to make some intelligent guessing, so don’t think it’s wrong to do so! Everyone has their own way of dealing with the questions and time on UKCAT, so what works for someone may not work for another. So the best advice is for you to develop your own method of time management, which will come along naturally the more you practice.

    And best wishes

The problem with big egos is that they're difficult to hide.

If you're the kind of person who takes advantage of the anonymity of online forums to make others feel bad about themselves, you'll get steam-rollered at interview.

I agree, so condescending!! This person will not shine at an interview unless they seriously change their attitude.
