well, I am using the book "Passing the UK Clinical Aptitude Test and BMAT", the 2008 edition, the UKCAT website and also this cool website with 400 questions which cost £30, called UKCAT Practice Online (UPO), UKCAT Practice Online - UPO

with all this material I'm hoping it goes for the best... at least I am getting used to the time limits and the type of questions. Trust me, I was about to quit the first time I practiced, because I would get to the end of the time limit with only half the test done. But at the 2nd or 3rd time it gets A LOT better.

Good luck! when are you sitting the exam?

I answered 18 questions and left 5 out when my timer said i had 30 seconds left. So i quickly clicked random answers for the rest. I managed 660 in QR. DONT PANIC if youre running out of time.

yeah, everyone keeps saying that... but i don't know how i won't panic so what are you saying, that i just choose random answers and hope that some of them are right? yup, that actually sounds like something i'd do! hopefully i'll develop my calculator-clicking abilities by thursday and i'll manage to answer all 30 questions... or not. we'll see

but, to be specific, if i'm running out of time, what do i do?

well the best advise i have is choose random answers for the rest and then go back to the questions you have already attempted and try any you missed out as its takes a minute to familiarise yourself with a new graph/set of data.

maths is easily my best subject, i got 100 in my non calc and calc gces maths papers (but failed my coursework lol) and got 98 in my C1 module at AS maths.
Yet QR really is crazy difficult. Im pretty certain we're not expected to be anywhere close to finishing it fully. Dont worry, just try your best there really isnt anyways to prepare youself. I barely got a chance to use my calculater lol. Sorry to scare you shitless. I would recommend practising AR, thats the one section you can practise for.

I set myself a time to "stop working and start guessing": basically, if there are n unanswered questions, stop calculating and start guessing when there are 2n seconds left; 15 seconds < 2n < 1 minute. This is quantitative analysis, after all

I had to go into "guess mode" at the 1 minute point during the practice and the 15 second point during the actual test. Haha.

[Edit] AR = it's possible to get a lot better at that with practice. Sit down at Blackwell's (or whatever bookshop you have in your area) with pencil, paper and all three commercially-available UKCAT books. That said, AR was still my worst section but I managed to improve from having to guess on 75% of the questions to giving confident answers for a majority

no it really isnt lol. The data they give you is really difficult to understand. Practice questions are no way harder than the actual thing.

Not really that related to the original question but:

I looked at the AR questions, actually worked out only about 3 or 4 of them, and for all of the rest I literally guessed what I kind of felt they should be, hence finished the section. So for AR, I would say before you reach the random guessing stage (like you would for the other sections) do an (only slightly) more time consuming "kind of feeling it" stage and you'll get more marks.
It was my highest section.
