665 Ukcat average, should i apply to both Kings and Barts? Thanks

    hey guys

Iv read through everything that i can about the UKCAT, and still there seems to be many different views, i was hoping someone could help clear things up.

i got 665 average in the UKCAT, (620,730,620,690)

what i wantd to know is, with that score should i apply to both, Kings and Barts (queen marys)??
Or would that be silly cos in most circumstances, ppl who actually get into these two uni have much better ukcats? i would much prefer to have some choices to be able to stay in london, but i dnt wana ruin my chances of getting in, when i might be accpeted by others

If only apply to one which 1 is more relaxed on ukcat?

I am currently on a gap year, done 3 bits of work experiance related to med

    and my A level results
    physics: A
    chem: A
    bio: A

    AS in maths: A

    gcses not so great
    1.5 A*'s
    5 A's
    4 B's
    1 C

    all input really appreciated!

    thanks

I have a similar score (673) and I am applying to both KCL and Bart's. If the rest of your application is good I do not think that the score will hold you back (that is what I am hoping for myself at any rate).

do you think, there less chance or gettin into Barts over somewhere like liverpool, (doesnt use ukcat at all)

with a 665 score, ie is 665 a disadvantage in anyway, or not, or even an advantage (doubt it!)?

    thanks again

I think it is a good score. I also have the feeling that people on TSR and NMM make things up or repeat rumours. If you are having doubts or questions, the best thing to do is to contact the schools directly and ask. I am taking a chance with Barts and KCL. I have done my best with my application and that is all that I can do at this point. I think you should apply to wherever you would prefer to go because you will have to make the right impression if you get called in for an interview!

i got 675 average and am applying for both schools. Currently im a anatomy undergrad at Kings and i am already guaranteed an interview regardless of my ukcat score via an internal graduate 'screening' scheme.
You have a good, above average score. They seem to put weight on the UKCAT at both GKT and Barts but so long as the rest of the app is strong you'll almost ceratinly get an interview. Your grades look good, so long as you've done something constructive in your year out and you can talk confidently abut your clinical experiences you'll be a hit at both. What more can they really ask for?!
    Go for it!

How are you finding King's? Do you enjoy it?

    Its awesome.
Especially like the anatomy - great dissections and staff/demonsartors who know their stuff. Susan Standring is the head of department and she edited Gray's anatomy!
There's a cool atmosphere around campus, its a cosmopolitan, tight-knit community made up of scientists, medics, dentists, physios right on the southbank.
I really hope i can shine at interview - id love to stay here for another 5 years!

I think your enthusiasm will be a very important factor. You already know King's and how great your experience has been, which I think are vital for interview. Good luck with your interview, whenever it is.
