Question To all those who have done the UKCAT test

    Hiya all!

Just a quick question, ive done two of the verbal reasoning tests, one from "passing the UKCAT Clinical aptitude test and BMAT" by Felicity Taylor and one on the ukcat site.

    Now im confused :s:

In the book, it says you have 44 items (11 reading passages) but it only gives you 30 questions in the book.

With the website there are 44 questions + reading passages, can someone please clear this for me.

    Thanks so much!

There are 11 passages with four questions on each one (so 44 questions overall)! There is 30 minutes for VR, so that makes 30seconds a question and 2 minutes for each passage overall!
Take that book with a pinch of salt- I thought the verbal reasoning questions in it were far too difficult and in some cases I was sure the answers were wrong!
    Good luck!

Damn! i was hoping it would still be 30 questions :

Thanks hun! And thank God you think the same! Some questions just made me go "huh?" and the explanations were not helpful at times.

there are 11 passages, like you said and four questions for each passage, but i thought that you get only 21 mins for answering questions and 1 min for reading.

the 1 min is separate though- you cant read it in 5 secs and get an extra 55 to answer. You can use it to chill out though!

is it, oh ryt, i thought that it was only separate for the personality part, coz i thought when you get the instructions you have 22 mins. oh wel. at least you get a minute to breath deeply and calm yourself down.

Thats how it is in the practice tests but in the real one its a separate minute. I totally recommend knowing the instructions so you can give your brain 60 wonderful seconds to relax..you only get the 4 chances in 2 hours..use them!!!

My mistake... I only realised once I did the test that that one minute is actually separated...none of the books say that it is!

A book I liked was "Succeeding in the 2008 UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT)", it was much more helpful than the "passing the UKCAT Clinical aptitude test and BMAT" one as the questions and answers were much nearer to the standard the UKCAT actually was. Though the later was only rubbish for VR really!
