Cool Med school mum's!

Hi all,

I am new to this site and have found it really interesting and useful.
I am an RGN with a BSc in adult nursing and for a long time have wanted to study medicine. I have 2 children aged 2 & 8 and a very supportive family. I am 28yrs old and will go through all the heartache of applying this year for 2009 (hopefully for Birmingham).

Are there many mum's studying for medicine? i studied my nursing degree with one of my little toe-rags in hand and can't believe i'm considering doing it all over again but for much longer this time and i'm sure, much more difficult!

Everybody seems to be school leavers etc... embarking on this course, do med school mum's exist.....? oh, and do they survive!?

Hiya... you'll probably get more replies to this if you move it to either the mature students' forum, or the 'parents at medical school' forum. But yes, there are mums at med school apparently!

Of course! Medical courses select on who you are, not your age If you have the drive for Medicine, you will succeed! I have friends currently in first year and they know a number of older medical students in the first year, so I wouldn't worry at all!
(p.s. I feel quite old as I will be joining after my gap year (but I still don't look 18 yet )
