Which UKCAT practice book?
Hi
I want to buy a UKCAT practice book and I saw that there a few available. Of course I want to take the best one.
I am not sure, which book is better: this or that one?
Further, what is the difference between the "Passing the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) and BMAT 2008" and the 2007 version of the very same book?
Maybe someone can recommend one of those or another book?
Thank you!

Having read threads of a similar nature I have gleamed that it is worth familiarising oneself with the official books and the different sections and questions presented.I am not sure what the difference is between the 2007 and 2008 editions as,as far as I know, the 2008 isn't available until April or May (look on Amazon).I am guessing that there maybe a difference regarding the debacle with the sections of the most recent test, although I emailed UKCAT and they are "...unsure if the 5th section will be included in the 2008 test..." !! I think even when you receive the book I suggest you email or phone UKCAT to check that the all sections of the book are relevant (to the test you will sit this year) - I know I intend to! Furthermore I have been advised (on this site) NOT to pay for any other prep test material, (Kaplan or Medicas), as it's not worth it as there are of plenty free prac questions around (search the threads).Good luck when you do sit it.

So I will take the "Passing UKCAT" one and hope that the 2008 version will arrive in time. ^^
Thanks!

Supposedly its does include the 5th section, as I was checking it out on the Blackwell website. Someone also said that the 2007 and 2006 edition was the same book ( with different colour covers,, now its purple) if it is the same non- cognitive questions etc. You could buy the 2007 edition.

I found the book to be really good 2007 edition. Also there was a website last year giving out free UKCAT practice there is a thread somewhere about it. If that site is still working then i'd also try that. I can't comment on the 2008 edition

the diff between the 2007 and 2008 passing the UKCAT//BMAT book are the stats ie at the beginning it refers to ppl applying to uni- male/female ratio, numbers, etc; and the cover!!
It's identical in terms of ALL the questions and all the paragraphs about writing personal statements
I also got the succeeding in the 2008 UKCAT and relative to the other book, there weren't that many questions. ie in the entire book there are 20 abstract reasoning Qs Vs the 2008 passing the UKCAT= 50 Qs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
=P fair point markyboye after actually flicking through a little more there ARE more Qs in the 'succeeding in the UKCAT book' - I didn't realise that the Questions in the mock UKCAT test were 5 mini-questions to one big question- my bad....!!Last edited by Chuwy; 13-07-2008 at 02:34 PM.
