Unhappy ukcat results

Hi guys,

Just done the ukcat...and to be frank, i'v done absolute s**t! I got

VR:510
QR:650
AR:570
DA:550

which ends up being an average of 570.

I wanted to ask whether theres any chance for me applying for Kings or Nottingham with that ukcat score, even though my AS's are : AAAA?

cheers

The UKCAT is only one of the criteria that your application is judged on, so their decision to give you an interview and offer is based on other factors- grades, ps, work experience and etc.

Plus as well with the UKCAT, just being implemented last year. Someone from Kings was saying that they dont really know what to do with them, as to see whether having great UKCAT scores makes a great doctor can not be shown by only one year of evidence. So, I really wouldnt worry about it so much, and just work on your other things to get you into med.

Whats done is done !!!!!!!

Thanks Tascha, i really appreciate your post. It's just I have been flicking through the forum and people have said that those that achieve on average below 600 are automatically rejected at places like Kings......

to be perfectly honest: don't think peolpe below 700 will have a chance at kings. do you all remember the msat? cut off was somewhere around 90th percentile.
am really worried about my non-cognitive analysis. in case they accept my score-they won't like my "mental orientation"

to be honest: i wouldn't choose kings if i haven't got my 700 score.
the msat is a completly different test. it tests your knowledge about chemistry,
biology, physics. the verbal reasoning is the same and they let you write essays.
there is no non-cognitive analysis.
summery: the msat is more about you knowledge and the ukcat is about IQ and character.

i prefer the ukcat to the msat-by miles! have done badly at the msat/gamsat (it was in the middle of exams )

The MSAT was a test for those applying for Graduate Entry Medicine whereas the UKCAT is for both school leavers and graduates-to-be/graduates - i'm not sure you can compare the two.

senny_k, maybe you could contact Kings to find out how they rate your UKCAT score? Better than relying on second-hand information, which may or may not be correct...
