Verbal reasoning help!

Argh I just tried this practice subtest in the "Passing the UKCAT and BMAT" book and found it really difficult - I got the shameful score of 8/30! I've heard that the questions in the book are slightly harder than those in the real test, but still... I seem to be much better at the abstract reasoning/decision analysis type questions. So I was wondering if anyone had any tips or websites/books they used that helped them practise this section? Thanks in advance!

Ignore it!!!! I rescheduled my UKCAT after getting the book. I'm an arts graduate so expected to do well in this section (VR) but scored bollocks, like you. Looking on this forum after rescheduling my test I realised that a lot of people were having problems with this section in the book.

Ignore, ignore, ignore!!!! If you look at the answers some of them are clearly wrong (eg it says 'B - Can't Tell' which is impossible because B is always false). Also it tells you not to make assumptions but to base what you write on what's in the passage, but if you do this, you get it wrong (eg it says it is safe to assume that something said by a political rival is definitely false, even if you couldn't possibly extrapolate this from the text.)

I found the book helpful for the shapes section, but that's it really. I almost wished I hadn't bought the book, because it really dented my confidence and I had another 3 weeks of stressing about the test rather than just going and getting it over and done with.

Please don't let this put you off, I sat UKCAT on 12th July and can vouch for the fact that the qs in the real thing are easier.

Good luck
