Exclamation UKCAT Practice Tests

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum, but would just like to say that I've found a new website called Dr Test (www.drtest.co.uk) that you might like to see. It covers all the UK University Admissions Tests & has a great link to some practice tests for the UKCAT - from the SAME people who designed the real test!! Check it out

dont waste your money- costs about £45 for a practice test!!! What a waste nearly as much as the test itself. Spoke to someone who did this practice test and you dont get any answers and get sent a crappy email saying how you did- just the percentile but nothing else. Just find the format on the UKCAT website and have a go- its supposed to be an aptitude test so you cant learn anything for it.

Got to say when i first decided to apply for medicine i didnt realise how much it would cost and mainly how many people would be out there trying to con a bit more money out of students desperate to get into med. Basically im poor so am fed up that all these people who have loads of money or rich parents seem to be able to be at an advantage even though they may not make better doctors. All these conferences that cost £200 and just show you how to use a stethoscope and give you the info you could get for free online or at an open day- its so wrong!

Sorry about that- rant over- good luck to everyone!

Dear Junior Member,

Not what I found!!!!!! These tests are from the same guys who designed the UKCAT - really good feedback......................... Don't know what you're on about. And it doesn't cost £45. Jack.

It would be £45 if you wanted to buy all the sections i.e. £30 for all the reasoning sections and £15 for the decision analysis. I genuinely don't think it's worth it - esp since they cost 3/4 of what the exam costs and doesn't even include VAT!! The prep book has all the sections in it and is only £15 (inclusive of VAT you'll be pleased to hear) - more than adequate.

Oops I stand corrected. For the entire package it's £42.30 (inc. VAT). Far be it from me to say they're taking advantage of students who are already expected to pay enough as it is!

Hiya tcdlewis,

Well cannot fault your maths - but I just looked at Dr Test again and the whole thing costs £36 (yep, plus VAT). But these are online timed tests plus good reports. Nearest thing to the genuine test experience I would say. Also I suspect the prep book wasn't written by the UKCAT test designers..........!

Well we must be looking at different website then cos it says quite clearly here http://www.profilingforsuccess.com/c...splay_tests.pl that the combined reasoning + DAT will cost £36 + VAT = £42.30. The DAT is Decision Analysis Test not VAT which is what I initially thought.

Anyway, check the new thread I've made - it has the link to the tests by profilingforsuccess but without having to pay.

Oh, and another thing. Of course you can practice for aptitude tests! Don't believe the guff on the UKCAT site. Practice = go quicker = higher score. And I have done the Dr test practice tests & believe me it gave me a good idea of where I needed to improve - esp. the Decision Analysis Test. Try practicing the DAT properly using a book. And while I'm having a 'rant', don't you think that book publishers are just as interested in charged doctors-to-be as website operators...

I cannot see what's free on the Profiling for Success site apart from a few practice bits & pieces. And it doesn't list the Decision Analysis test. I think we're back where we started. And if I wanted to argue about VAT I would be trying to be an accountant. Make your own minds up - www.drtest.co.uk
