UKCAT cutting applications?
One of the predicted effects of the UKCAT that I heard someone mention was that it might cut the number of A100 applications this year. Now I'm not very good with statistics but if 19,000 people have sat the UKCAT (don't forget it's requisite for medicine and dentistry) what has been the effect on the number of applications?
I know I don't really have enough information to make an informed guess here since not all medschools introduced the UKCAT; I'm just trying to get some opinions/ideas
Also if anyone else has any more information or is a good numbercruncher! Feel free to enlighten me. It'll be interesting to see

its definitely cut the stats.
not everyone will be in a postition to the UKCAT, including those deterred by extra cost, those not present to do it and those few who jus plain forget or are too disorganised to sit it."...reminds me of childhood memories,

How about some ppl who take the ukcat and decide their result isnt good enough to apply? That must contribute a small percentage aswell.

19,000 people have done it when compare to 22500 applicants for med and dens last year. i think this test have not done much in term of cutting down applicant ( unless people with low score get dishearten from applying) let see what the stat is like when it come out

Remember some people may not need to sit the UKCAT i.e. they may be applying only to BMAT unis and/or non UKCAT unis.
But anyway, lest hope the number of applicants has fallen
