I actually know of some one who got an offer with only 5A* who got an offer from Cambridge. Obviously they were having an improper relationship with the admissions tutor. Naughty!

^ Tis true, he may have done vocationals which can account for 4+ GCSE grades. But yes, very doable, and Ive heard of much more.

Mind you they did row for England at the Olympics too (Juniors, that is), I guess that counted for something.
