UKCAT and BMAT
OK so I've just found out about the UKCAT, which is the new test for admissions into medical school.
There's no official website for it but I googled it and a medlink link came up, saying that the first test will be in 2006, for 2007 entry.
However, does this mean that the BMAT will be eradicated? Or will I have to do both? Will certain universities use the BMAT while others the UKCAT?

Yeah, for the moment universities don't really know what they want to use UKCAT for, so for 2007 entry it's possible that the results may not even have any bearing on your offers. The universities who use BMAT will continue to do so and will not be using the UKCAT at all... there are also one or two unis who won't be using the UKCAT or BMAT, I think Bristol might be one of them...

Great, just when I thought the 'entrance exam' was limited to the few elite universities, now all the others are following suit!

lol thankyou... I don't think Critical Thinking in *itself* is useless, just the way the questions are written on the exam paper and the teaching and the way our school is forcing us to do it, and my eventual grade, probably...
but yeah, roll on the UKCAT... nice little 60 quid going down the drain there...xxx Gem xxx

I'm not so against the paying for the £60 myself, I'm more against it for people who would make great doctors and can't necessarily afford the extra expenses that medical schools and the government keep piling on... but yeah I'll stop ranting about the cost now lol
and thanks smyth100, I'll keep a lookout...xxx Gem xxx

Doesn't the government and the overall population of the world need more doctors anyhow? and they're trying to DECREASE the amount of them by introducing expensive tests for us?! The government's great =)!! Hehehe And yeah, i might be taking the BMAT and the UKCAT and the whatever exams you need to be a great medical student....**shudders** though with only 5A's and 6B's...I just might not be able to get into med school >.<
