Grad entry - advice please
Hey, i'm so confused
and thats after a VERY long time of research - so if u have any advice to offer it would be much appreciated.
I'm 24 yrs old and a grad entry - 2.1 (Hons) in Accounting. I have AAABBBB and a C in Highers. C is for Chemistry.(no biology)
I've been travelling for a bit and returned knowing what I wanted to know but missed the deadline for UCAS (eek!) Anyways, I'm looking to apply for entry next year and would like advice on whether I should,
1) apply for 5 or 6 year course - grad entry?
2) in meantime should I do highers in Chemistry and Biology (do u think i'll need these - or will i get automatically declined as C looks bad????)
3) Get work experience behing me or do an access course (which i prob couldn't afford to move down for)
I also have an interest in Nursing but this is second to Medicine and Really WANT to do Medicine - I know i can get into Nursing this year unconditional. Should I do Nursing this year, get work experience behind me and then apply for Med or focus on a) applying for direct entry without grades and just as I am (obviously getting work experience) or b) Do Highers?
Information/Advice would be much appreciated.

Hi!
Don't really have much knowledge of applying as a graduate but anyway...
Would def go for lots of work experience! You have the min entry requirements already (2.1) and your highers are good so you might not need to get highers in chemistry and biology (8 highers
wow!) Best thing to do I think would be to give the unis you want to apply to a phone and ask them what they would like you to do!
Good luck

Thanks Erin,
I've had various emails back and forth from Glasgow and Edinburgh but no definite answer - though very helpful on the whole. I feel like i'm pestering them all the time. I guess a chat rather than email may clarify things. Thanks Again - G'luck with Edinburgh.
Any other views would be fab.

Firstly get lots and lots of work experience!
With your degree you are eligable for some grad courses, and the 6 year courses. If you want to apply to 5 year courses then doing Bio and Chem Highers or A levels would probably be a good idea. You should also look into access courses like the kings lynn one. Look at www.medschoolsonline.co.uk for more info.Manchester Medical School 4th year
