Swansea 2012 GEP applicants

I'd like to know how many other people are waiting so we've got an idea what our odds are...but I doubt they'd tell me if I asked, they seem to be a bit reluctant with that sort of information!

I don't think we are going to hear anything for a while yet, but it would be nice to be told that we are on a waiting list.

When they said there was around 100 people left, that was before the last few offers went out, so hopefully it's down to around 90 now. Maybe half of these people will have an offer elsewhere and accept it rather than wait forever to hear from Swansea. Also, if half of the people with offers from Swansea so far end up choosing Nottingham, St George's, etc, instead, then nearly everyone left on the waiting list could get an offer. This might seem a bit far fetched but would explain why they have so many people on the waiting list.

It's probably just wishful thinking, but I have to keep my hopes up somehow, lol!

Whatever happens there are still going to be more offers at some stage, so I'm trying to think positively, it's not over yet!

Ucas sent me an email this morning to remind me to fill out my student finance form. Truth is I can't bring myself to face the massive hassle that is GEM student finance when I'm not confident I'll be going anywhere! Anyone else in the same boat?

This is just a random question but is there any reason why you chose Liverpool as your first choice? Im just curious that is all.

Hmmmmm. Out of my 4 I always knew it would be the top choice. I never actually thought I would get accepted to be honest (they only have 25-30 places and usually get around 700-800 applicants).

My mother's side of the family originally hail from Liverpool, so I put it as my 'wild card' choice as there was just something intriguing about it. Also in the long run when I come to applying for foundation positions they have the largest women's and children's hospitals in the UK, which I am very interested in

I also much prefer PBL to standard lecture-based courses

Seriously, it doesn't say much for Swansea when they send an offer to someone who's withdrawn their application! Congratulations, tfordham88 I hope Liverpool makes you happy!
