SWANSEA 2010 applicants!

^ I hear there cut off score was 49 or something I'm applying for 2010 entry at Swansea too.

Where did you hear that mate? I find it very difficult to get any information on Swansea entry. This thread seems to be quieter than the others too which seems to suggest less interest in comparison to other med schools. I do like the sound of that GAMSAT cutoff score too

^ A friend of my mine who applied to them last year phoned the up at the time and asked them. They seem to look at your personal statement and refernece quite a bit.

I was reading some of the posts in the GAMSAT thread but didn't feel like posting earlier! I got the exact same score this time 'round again. 50-59-53(54). I feel confident enough for Swansea. Missed out on Georges & Notts but I never really wanted them anyway - I really want Swansea. Everything about the course is perfect for me How did you do? Are you still feeling confident?

Well done on your score!! I didn't feel confident on the thread I must say. I got 53 overall. 53 in every section so nice and even
I really want Swansea too! SGUL was a bit of a risky one for me anyway, I just couldn't think of anywhere else to go. Apparently last year the average score was 58 for Swansea hopefully that won't go up!! According to GAMSAT they use it right at the last minute and not to choose who to interview!

Hopefully work experience, personal statement and ambition will shine through. I like the fact that 58 is an average score and not a cutoff! Have you got much in the line of work experience?

Yeah 58 is a good score. I managed to get on their interview waiting list with a score of 49 last years.
Well I cared for my nan for about 4 years when I could! I have been volunteering in a neuro rehab ward for about 3 months now and have managed to get some work shadowing etc. TBH it took me ages to find anything, I applied to my local hospice but due to a recent passing in my family they didn't think it was such a good idea. I felt abit down from that and gave up for a while and then managed to get the volunteering. I think I wrote it in my PS in such a way that they can ask questions about it. How about you?

^Hey guys, well I got an average of 54 also, so I'm hoping I'm good with swansea. Hopefully my PS, a-levels, gamsat and degree are sufficient to get me through.

Edit: Also, on aerage, how many people do swansea call for interview?

What A-levels have you got?
I've got science ones but not good grades!!Hopefully they won't worry too much!!
I think I read somewhere (on this forum I think) its about 200.

^ Well I got 3B's including Chemistry and Biology. So I assume that okay, and 200? Well if thats the case assuming that exactly 500 applicants apply as stated on there website, the chances of getting an interview are at about 40%, which is pretty good if you think about it.
