So does swansea gep require science a levels/science degree or not?
Hi, just because the FAQs and the entry requirements page say different things, does someone with no science a levels or science degree stand a chance if they only have a strong gamsat course? the faqs for swansea say science a levels are only a requirement if there's no science degree, the entry requirements section says science at gcse level or above is required, which one is true so i don't waste an application

Hi
I got an offer with no science degree and quite a low GAMSAT score, although I did have Chemistry A Level. My friend had an offer and she hadn't done any science since GCSE. I'd suggest you give the admissions coordinator a ring on 01792 602618 to get a definitive answer. She's really lovely and won't mind answering your questions. Good luck

Hey I got achingly close, (interview reserve list) with no science degree either and not the best GAMSAT. To the best of my knowledge Swansea will take non science degrees provided theyre 2:1 and above.

They are both true.
Science is required at GCSE level for everyone. That is the only absolute requirement.
If you do not have a science degree they will look and see if you have biology and/or chemistry at A level or equivalent.
If you do not have a science degree or science A levels this does not stop you applying but may mean that your application form is scored less highly than someone who does.

Hi,
Would a degree in nursing (1st) be considered as good coverage of biology and chemistry (i.e. to GCSE/AS level)?

I'm not sure. The best thing is to get in touch with the admissions office and check.
Is nursing an honours degree? Otherwise I'm not sure if it would count.

Yes, pipedreamer, a 1st class honours degree in nursing is an honours degree. Quite a few nurses are now entering the profession as degree qualified Staff Nurses. Some, like me, also have a PhD. It's interesting that you are a FY1 yet appear unaware that nurses can be honours graduates!

I'm not quite sure why you would expect an F1 to know the ins and outs of nursing qualifications, it certainly wasn't on our core curriculum last time I checked!
To be honest I don't really care what qualifications people have, it's how they do the job that matters to me.

Hi pipedreamer,
Yep,
We all need to do a good job. It is just so hot here - went up to 31 deg C today! All the best on completing your 1st Foundation Year, by the way.
