FAQs for GEP at Swansea University
Hello all you potential student doctors

http://www.gemedicine.swan.ac.uk/faqsintro.html <---- this is the link to the FAQ section on the Swansea University web site.
However, if you can't find the answers to your questions there, then please post it here in this thread and I will try and answer them as soon as I can.
Good luck with your UCAS applications for 2007 entry.
All the best,
Claire

12-12-2006, 02:10 AM #2As you have probably read on our website, to be eligible to apply for Medicine at Swansea we ideally look for an upper second or first class honours degree in any subject, with some post-GCSE experience in Biology or Chemistry. We also require all applicants to sit the GAMSAT test and perform to a satisfactory standard. However, we do not impose a cut off mark due to the way in which the admissions process is set up.

In relation to the work experience, there are no specific guidelines for the amount of work experience i.e. amount of hours or specific requirements. However, we do expect applicants to clearly show how they have prepared for the course. From what you have mentioned, I would try not to worry, it is probably best to get recent experience when applying. The PhD would be considered when assessing your application and of course would be a good topic to discuss at interview - if you are lucky enough to get a interview
I really hope this has helped.
All the best,

I have applied for graduate entry medicine at Swansea University and I am going to sit the GAMSAT exam in January. Do you know if there is a syllabus for the exam? If so, please could you tell me how I could get it. Thank you.

Hi,
I applied to Swansea back in September and as yet have still heard nothing about the progress of my application - its now the end of Jan and i'm starting to get very worried. Should I take this as an automatic rejection or should I still hold out hope??

I'm wondering the same thing - I sent an email to Claire last week but had no reply. Has anyone actually been rejected from Swansea yet?

02-02-2007, 09:11 PM #9I emailed Claire in December and January, but haven't had a reply either. Very frustrating, but I guess she's snowed under with worried prospective students emailing etc. It's driving me mad though, spending every waking moment checking UCAS Track!! Judging from Claire's posts it seems that rejections will be going out soon and that those of us who've not heard anything can probably expect bad news... Very horrid

At this stage during my application I hadn't heard anything either, yet I eventually received an offer.
It isn't over 'till the fat lady sings ... so they say.
