Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Hey, i am currently a student in year 12 and i really want a career in maxillofacial surgery but i have been doing some research and i have seen its quite complicated. I understand some things, but overall i am quite confused as to what i have to do.
I am applying for dentistry this year, for a 5 year course.
Once i finished my degree would i have to do a foundation training in dentistry with a maxillofacial surgeon or not?
Then i apply for medicine and do a 3-5 years course and apply for f1 and f2 or just f1?
Then i have to do 1 or 2 years of CT training (which i don't know what means) and then i apply to be a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery ?
Also how many exams would i have to do for this? because i know i will need to do an exam to become a surgeon.
Anyways, sorry about how lenghty this is and how many questions there are, but i just want to make sure i am fully aware of the amount of dedication i will have to put into this so i am not disappointed at the end.
Thank you x
