How many years does it take to become a Cardiologist?

Can anyone please tell me how many years it takes to become a cardiologist in the UK or US? & does anybody know the study break down eg first five years is medicine for MBBS degree, then what happens after that?

5 years MBBS, 2 years foundation programme, 2 years core medical training, 5 years specialty training. This is assuming you get a place on the training schemes first time, and that you don't take time out to do a MD/PhD.

Well you start practising as a doctor after the 5 years MBBS, but you're only fully qualified after the first year of foundation training. You're working after you've finished at uni, and getting paid and everything.
