will i even get to interview?

Hi!

Im in year 13 at college, and after receiving some pretty poor AS grades i'm now having to reconsider whether I can apply to do medicine. My GCSEs are 8A*, 2As and 1 B, but my AS levels were 3As a B in biology and a C in chemistry. Realistically do i have any hope of even getting an intrview....did anyone have a similar experience then have to resit.

My UKCAT is on tuesday - what should i be aiming for now!

Sorry for all the questions but i would greatly appreciate any advice thanks x

What did you get in each paper + coursework for Chemistry and Biology? Like, for Biology, I got a C in one paper and a high A in the other, so I'm in a position where I can move my grade up by retaking the C.

Hi! I got a high B (1 mark off an A in one), a C in the second paper and an A in the c/w. If i just resit the c i will have an A overall

the c in chemistry is the big problem!

OK, so you can get an A in Biology which is good. With regards to Chemistry, I'd say do the necessary retakes to bump it to at least a B. Make sure your you get your teachers to predict you the A in Biology and B in Chemistry. I'm not an expert since I'm in the same year as you, so I'd ask one of your teachers whether you should apply or not. My guess is you'll be fine.

So yeah, work hard, bump those two grades up and make sure your UCAS personal statement is perfect! And I'll be doing the same :P
