I was hoping last years unemployment rate would encourage plenty of chemistry/bioscience grads to apply on a whim, since the GAMSAT would be relatively easy for them to 'take a stab at' despite not having any real motivation to become doctors.

HJ: I'm sure there are some phenomenal candidates applying... but there's also every chance you fell into an interview cycle with some of the very strongest whereas another batch on another day may be considerably weaker! You just never know with the competition. Erk, three weeks - I don't think this thread is helping me, I feel proper nervous for Weds!

Yes, I think you're probably right. The group I was in with were the mature applicants so it's only natural they'd be quite impressive. I think I was just finding the hope quite difficult yesterday
I'm feeling much better about it today.
Good luck on Wednesday, I'd love to hear how you get on! These 3 weeks will just fly by

Post Gamsat I spent the entire weekend beating myself up about it (and may well do the same for the whole rest of the week after Weds, I guess
) so know what you mean about the post-performance negative slump! Sure it'll all be fine. Gotta keep the faith....

I always knew SGUL would be hard. I almost didn't apply as I thought I was aiming too high. However since attending the open day it has been by far my first choice. I didn't want to admit it as a) it might offend the other uni's and b) it might jinx my application.
I'm sure that I have blown it with S'ton as they go 100% off PS and I lost Cambridge and KCL off some unknown issue with my PS. SGUL now my first and only hope.
What HJ said has rammed home the one thing I have always known, but tried to avoid thinking about, - just how awsome the rest of you guys are, and there are so few spaces.
I am bricking my self. I don't recall ever being to tense, because a want and need this so badly.
My family have been great, but made me feel guilty, as my Great Aunt died two days ago and they have arranged the funeral arround my SGUL interview. My great aunt was a nurse, and was so proud or my dedication to getting in.
I thing if I do get place, you will be able my yell for miles!

I feel quite similiarly to you both Martigan & HJ. Its one of those stupid cliches they roll out constantly on XFactor etc and you curse the contestants for not being able to come out with anything more insightful: 'the closer and closer I get, the more I want this!'. SGUL is also my first choice by a very very long way and the problem is that it is tantalisingly in reach, making it all the harder if unsucessful. In the grand scheme of things, a year to wait to try again is little time, and at least there's a second shot - and I've missed out on many things before and survived to tell the tale. But I have every empathy to how you feel!!

Because I am over 35, and would over 40 by the time I could graduate, I don't fell time is on my side. Each year my chances of getting in will be lower.
Yes I am a "strong candidate" but so are you lot! There is no shortageof strong candidates, which does not inspire confidence. However it makes the thought of getting in even more exciting because I "spark" off bright people, so will help me achieve more.
Also not getting an interview at KCL despite a strong UKCAT, just shows how competative this is. I've never been good at selling my self, I feel I prove myself via my actions, so an interview isn't the best way for me to shine.
I have been indulging my self a little by reading the SGUL GEP 2009 wall on face book and getting excited that in a month or so I could be joining the SGUL GEP 2010 group!!!
Ahh how we torture our selves. I did the same over the UCAT and GAMSAT.
