SGUL read UCAS personal statements?
So I receive an email acknowledging the receipt of my application, and it stated that upon selection for interview, we had to bring evidence of the work experience stated on our UCAS application form. Does this mean they read our statements after all? I was always under the impression SGUL didn't read statements but focused on GAMSAT for interview selection.

they dont, but you should have listed your work/ work experience on your ucas form.

Basically they have a work experience scoring system, so want dates and details of all work experience. I'd get confirmation of everything you've written on your statement, anything else that's relevent but you ran out of words, and anything that you've done since.
It says start getting everything now, which is probably a wise idea, but i'm putting it off until the GAMSAT scores come through

Sorry to come in late but they categorically DO read your UCAS statement later i the application process. Prior to interview they just scan it to check you've applied to the right course, have done some volunteering, etc.
(I emailed):
"Although the UCAS personal statement is not used in our initial selection process, you do still need to write one - we look at it after interview.

Just to clarify - at SGUL we do not use the personal statement in the initial selection process i.e. it has no impact before interview, but as stated by goldhawkgonk, we do check it after interview. Hope this makes sense!

Hi,
the number of places on the MBBS4 course for 2010 has not yet been confirmed, but I can give you the 2009 entry stats: we had 919 applications, took 346 interviews and made 154 offers for 112 places. The number of places on the course may rise for 2010 entry (they've been rising for the past few years) but we're not sure yet. The number of offers made is always higher than the number of places (as with offers made for any course).
