    Graduate Entry Waiting List

Last night I read through my interview pack again, and read about the waiting list. From what i gather, candidates are split into the 5 categories...A,B,C,D and E following interview. A and B being offers, C being waiting list, and D and E are rejections. Concerning category C and the waiting list, it says if you are put on this, you are guaranteed a place for 2010, but must be prepared to take up a place at short notice for 2009. Is this in fact correct that if you are on the waiting list you are guaranteed a place still, even if it is a year later? This seems crazy. Can anybody shed some light on this matter for me...?

    Thanks.

That's as I understand it - at least, that's what I think happened in our year. In other words, if you're a C they want you for sure, whether it's this year or next. It's just that your score didn't put you at the top of the pile.

They need to be certain they can balance the numbers, as sometimes people on the A/B list drop out at very short notice. IIRC, a few people in our intake (2006) got the call with just a couple of weeks to spare.

Good luck. And aim for the A list, obviously ;D

PS: That's an impressive interview list!

So does that mean some people starting in 2009 will have had their interviews this time last year and were subsequently put on the waiting list?

    Yes, that's correct.
The downside is that if you are on the list they can call you up at short notice and say you must start this year, which is hard if you need to organise your job / life in the meantime

Does anybody know roughly how many were put on the waiting list in previous years?

Not too sure on the numbers, but last year I think ~10 from the waiting list got called up. (again very rough guess).

That's just from asking a couple of first year students there. They could think of 6 or 7, said quite a few came up. Good folks anyway.

Waiting list can't be so bad. Know you have a place for '10 so just go get a bit of cash up in the year, go off travelling somewhere, stir up some banter.

I don't know if it is the same this year but this is how it worked for me last year.

I went for an interview in Jan, when the offers/rejections came through I was initially rejected.

Then in July, just as I was starting to prepare to apply all over again (I got 4 rejections) St Georges phoned me and I was put on the waiting list, the rest of the info is correct. i.e. you have to agree to take up a place in the same year at short notice, (i think they said the absolute min was 4 weeks, could be wrong this was in july). Just so you know I was told I was 8th on the list.

As it happens I never did get in for 2008 and now I am starting in september this year,

    Hope this helps!

I had my interview yesterday and I asked about the waiting list. Ms. Regan said that 40 people will get put on waiting list, 20 will get told they may have to accept a place last minute (if not they will go in next yr) and the other 20 will just go in next year.

Odds are looking good so fingers crossed!!!
